It has been reported by people/forumers living in the area, that the 48h pouring of the concrete was about to start. I just hope the rain predicted for tomorrow hasn't made them change their mind in the last moment.

Wow, that is a lot of rebar. And at least six concrete pumps.

They're not from May 4th, rather from the previous weekend (April 26th - 27th)

okay so that lower part of the towercrane will be locked forever in concrete! Even with wall around it in later stages... Don't see that too often! But good to see actual progress with this tower!

I see it all the time, and nope, it will not be locked up forever. The base will climb with the tower itself

But how? the tower crane base seems to be attached below the rebar surface.

Oops, I see now I haven't corrected my statement. Yes indeed, that's the case when the base of the crane stays buried forever.

And speaking of the crane, it is up and working now

Those dense webs of rebar in skyscraper foundations never cease to amaze me when I see them.

If you look in some of those pictures you'll see gaps in the rebar here and there that don't seem to correspond with anything. Places where it looks like the rebar going in one direction got bent out. Are those mistakes, where the rebar got bent and they just left it? Would that even be acceptable from an engineering perspective if that was the case? I can only assume "no".

There are no mistakes, the bents are for a reason, often to be paired with more rebar for columns or walls
