Please post pics of Serbian motorways as they renovate and build new sections and i am interested in seeing pics of them. I am especially interested in the new awesome 5 km motorway section from Bulgarian border Kalotina towards the town of Dimitrovgrad, as this motorway does almost exactly lok as the new impressive fucking awesome modern design Struma motorway. So does anyone have pics?

This is a googleearth pic of the build section of Sofia Nis motorway:



The Serbians also made a new border which also looks pretty well, new and shiny. It will be inersting in Dimitrovgrad and also where the narrow rockgorge is, thzey improved the many tunnels there and reasphalted, they did not install lights in the Tunnels though.

I think we'll start posting these photos in the next few years...when construction of new highways heats up. The one i'm most looking forward to is the new Belgrade-Bar highway and you can expect lots of photos from me once they start building it

Please add photos of the Kalotina Dimitrovgrad motorway section as it looks like the Struma motorway, i saw the mashines are there so they probably will continue building it if not allready continued.

they look too normal, noone has pics of the new motorway section Bulgarian Border - Dimitrovgrad, this is the only section which looks more than regular as it looks very similar to the Struma motorway.

also, the pics are old, almost the whole motorway Nis Belgrad was rehabilitated recently.

The pics aren't from the Nis - Beograd section, but from Beograd to Subotica in the North. These pics are only 3 months old (April 2007).

GE didn't draw border line correctly. It is more easternly (more left on this pic) and is even visible through the woods. On the pic, Bulgaria is on the left side and Serbia on the right side.

Dimitrovgrad-Kalotina highway is quite new and unfortunately nobody of us reached to get the pics. If someone of Serbian forumers is going to Bulgaria let'im get the pics.

Here some few information about structure of highway network in Serbia

All road infrastructure is generaly divided in 3 Cathegories. Every cathegory has it own color and highest speed limit.

Lowest category is a "magistrala" - regional road. It s marked with yellow color and it s a standard intercity road with two lane like, max speed is 80 kmph.

Next category is so called "poluautoput" - half highway. It s marked blue and it contains two very wide lanes (like 3m width) with stop lanes on both side. If someone wants to bypass for example a truck, truck usualy moves shortly to stop lane to allow other vehicle to bypass it. A half highway is built to allow a easy expansion to a full highway. Max speed - 100 kmph.

And highest category is ofcourse highway itself - called "autoput". It s marked green, it has at least 2 lanes + 1 stop lane in each direction (6 lanes together). In middle of it is a narrow green lane with dividers (made from concrete or metal). Max speed - 120 kmph.

it's more. those at photo are 3,75 (motorway standard), least 3,50. 3,00 are some middle important magistralas

I also wanted add that i think that this motorway will be continued and become the Nis Sofia motorway, it will be very picturesqueue because it leads through many mountains, i saw the mashines jast before Dimitrovgrad and i don´t know if they already continue building this great motorway.

They were reconstructing sections of magistrala behind i belive. A company constructing this highway will be choosen on competition this autumn.

~ 150km and all in north. Before 4 years it was 220km, but 70km of poluautoput between Novi Sad and Belgrade was upgarded to full highway (autoput). Until 2010-2011 whole poluautoput will be upgarded. Spanish FCC and Austrian Alpine signed contract for the construction of 350km long highway Hungarian border - Subotica - Novi Sad - Belgrade - Čačak - Požega, this 350 km includes the poluautoput and its upgarded sections i mentioned above.

here is a map for easier orientation, both dark green lanes = autoput, one lane dark green another light green = poluautoput, both lanes light green = approved highways waiting for construction, orange = highways U/C, violet = visions:

After how much time will the Nis Kalotina motorway be constructed? I am sure it will need some years since it has to pass through mountainous terrain.
