It's already full motorway. As far as I know there are no works on that section.

Thanks.
I know it's a full motorway (I've already used it several times) but I've heard, from someone here in Romania, that some works are under going between Beograd and Sid, apart the rehabilitation of the bridge in Beograd.

Only Ostruznica, city bridges weren't destroyed because all the time during bombardment people were standing there protesting and "protecting" the bridges, because they tough that they will not shoot on the bridges full of civilian.
Though it didn't stop them from shooting at the TV station and international trains.
People started doing that when they saw that NATO destroyed all Novi Sad bridges.

Gazela bridge

How quickly were they actually repaired? Back in the late 90's / early 2000's Serbia was quite isolated, so getting money for repairs may have been an issue? After all, repairing a bridge is significantly more expensive than repairing a bomb crater.

By road network? I'd say Serbia is ahead of Bulgaria and Romania, comparable to Macedonia. I think Belarus is ahead of Serbia, for example their motorway network around Minsk is far more extensive than around Beograd.

I believe Serbia inherited many km of highways built during comunism in Yugoslavia.
Yugoslavia was in my opinion the socialist country with the bigest concentration of highways.
This was possible due to the policy of Tito who wanted to make Yugoslavia a non-aligned country and received economic support from the West (of course, with the intent to subminate the socialist block).
Allowing yugoslavs to work in West and bring money home was the best thing.
Tito was the best comunist leader ever, in my opinion.
It seems that the Chinese leaders of today are at the same political level, but China is an enormous country.

There were some works on the motorway exiting the city, I only went to the airport, so didn't really drive much on it, but I don't think it was more then 1km, maybe not even ...

Inherited? From who? Serbian people built that motorways and highways it is not as if someone came here and built those roads. Strange way of reasoning.

But just to make it clear, I didn't use Gazela bridge, I crossed on Земунски пут (got name from Google), and entered the motorway somewhere in Novi Beograd.

Since when Macedonia has a developed motorway network? Do they have more than ~450km of full profile motorways? I seriously doubt, Chris.
But I agree that serbian motorway network is ahead of bulgarian and romanian.

The actual length doesn't matter, you have to see it within proportion. Macedonia has a fairly developed motorway network for a country with this size, population and wealth.

Exactly! For example, Russia might have more kilometers of signal-free grade-separated highways (I'm not sure about that), but Singapore certainly has more kilometers per person, more kilometers per square kilometer, more kilometers per vehicle, and Singapore's roads are in much better condition that Russia's. Which of the two countries has the more developed highway system? In my opinion, Singapore.
