While Serbia eventually plans to build some sort of a motorway between Paracin & Zajecar, with the intention of linking Corridor 10 up to the pan-European Corridor IV near Vidin in Bulgaria, the current road is at the moment under complete reconstruction...

Fresh clip of a recently completed section:

During a tour of Belgrade's new Ada bridge by the city's Mayor yesterday, it was said that, while the bridge - part of the future inner ring road and the city's metro system - will open for traffic before the end of December, construction of one of the ramps is running late due to delayed expropriation of a small tract of land - it's expected completition date is now early April next year.

Fresh photo that clearly illustrates Belgrade's need for new bridges...

Pancevo bridge, the city's sole Danube river bridge. Over the next decade, two or three more Danube bridges will be built.

also looks like that exit on the bottom needs an extra lane. If you'd give the exit an extra lane the traffic on the bridge would flow better.

Yep, the exit to Old Town is quite substandard. If you can't merge on Despota Stefana Boulevard it takes only a few queuing vehicles to block traffic on the bridge.

Looks like it might have been something for a future exit.

When did the Srbobran section of E75 open to traffic? The last 5 kilometers to be doubled to 2x2 lanes north of Novi Sad...

Bridging the Danube
25 Oct 2011

Quote:
In the current state of traffic infrastructure in Belgrade there is only one operational bridge across the Danube River, Pancevo Bridge, the only road and rail link connecting Danube banks in span of 110km of the river flow. The General Urban Plan of Belgrade envisaged the bridge over the Danube in position between Zemun and Borca districts. In cooperation with Chinese construction companies and banks started the preparations for this major project that will allow better distribution of transit traffic and better functioning of traffic in wider metropolitan area.

The project of Zemun-Borca bridge should also be viewed in the broader context of the future transit route named "Northern tangent". This ring road will be 21.2 km long and it will directly connect roads T6, intersecting Zrenjaning road, all the way to reach Pancevo highway. According to plan, that is not the end of this traffic ring, because it will enable yet another Danube bridge crossing near Ada Huja, merging the “Norther Tangent” with the main route of “Outer Tangent” and Sumadija districts of Belgrade.

The "Northern tangent" project will include eight bridge structures varying in length from 35 to 545 meters crisscrossing the canals, roads and railways. Our focus this time will be on the bridge Zemun-Borca, which is currently the only active construction site, and we will introduce our readers closer to the technologies to be used in its construction.

Zemun-Borca bridge will be 1482 meters long. The cross section of the bridge consists of three car lanes 3.5 meters wide and pedestrian-bicycle paths on both sides. The bridge was designed as a continuous girder of post-tensioned concrete with two independent bridge structures 14 meters wide, in both directions. The bridge surface will cover an area of 41,350 square meters.

First they will build an auxiliary steel bridge on both sides of the river, which will span to reach the two main pillars in the river. The additional steel bridge is being built by thrusting steel tubes in the river bottom that will hold metal construction seven meters wide. On the platform of this temporary bridge shall be carried out work on the foundations of permanent pillars of the bridge, and then using sliding formwork they will concrete pillars body to the projected height.

For the upper construction of the bridge they will be use removable sheeting affixed to the zero segment, and the concrete will be filled with the 37 meter long tube, through which concrete is pumped to the foundations from auxiliary bridge. Formwork will be hanging on the steel structure - Derrick crane, which will move units to the next segment with the help of powerful hydraulic equipment. Moving formwork and manufacturing segments will take place simultaneously in both structures. During the construction the river will have flexible sailing space left for shipping between 45 and 66 feet, and upon completion of the construction sailing waterway will be 150 meters wide.

At the construction site they are currently carrying out preparatory works and building steel structures which will serve as auxiliary platform during the works. See photos we prepared from the construction site.

It looks like you can make that exit standard--and, if the AADT is high enough, add a third lane on both sides of the structure (with one possibly terminating in that exit). Is the idea that such a retrofit be done when a second Danube span's opened?

And why shouldn't he? The bridge is awesome, the pics are great and it certainly has something to do with the roads in Serbia. The fact that it's not a motorway doesn't other me at all

@CrazySerb: Nice pics, keep 'em coming

Because there is nothing else to post in this thread. Ada bridge is the only active site in Serbia at the moment, where you can really see the progress, everything else is dead.

Well, even the Ada Bridge is inner-city, it's still is a motorway - it has 3 lanes in direction, multi-level intersections etc. etc. So I think it is appropriate to post pictures and reports about it in this thread too.
