Now, this is interesting...report about Gazelle bridge reconstruction by Al Jazeera Balkans, a new regional news channel broadcasting to a Serbo-Croatian speaking audience:

A bit strange description of the paneuropean corridor 10 at the end... As the more important branch of it isn't the one through Macedonia to Greece, but for sure the one linking Europe wth Asia and the Middle East, more specifically with Turkey and Istanbul via Bulgaria. I'm sure the heavy trucks traffic and also the "gastarbeiter"-traffic there is quite bigger.

Official / main route of corridor 10 is:

Salzburg - Ljubljana - Zagreb - Belgrade - Niš - Skopje - Veles - Thessaloniki

and the route has several branches:

Branch A: Graz - Maribor - Zagreb
Branch B: Budapest - Novi Sad - Belgrade
Branch C: Niš - Sofia - Plovdiv - Dimitrovgrad - Istanbul (via Corridor IV)
Branch D: Veles - Prilep - Bitola - Florina - Igoumenitsa (via Egnatia)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan-European_Corridor_X

As for heavy trucks and other traffic, here is the data for 2010.

Thanks for the map with data. As I see at Macedonia border the traffic is about 5000 and at Bulgaria's border 3600 or 3800... This is supposed average daily traffic calculated on the overal traffic for the whole year?
I suppose during the months July and August the figures are quite different... At least I see the changes in traffin on Kalotina-Sofia and Sofia Ring Road during the great gastarbeiter-holidays, when thousands of ethnic turks, who live and work in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium etc. travel to their relatives in Turkey and few weeks later back to western Europe. I suppose you can see the difference on Serbian roads then too... When I travelled in 2008 to Germany and back in August, most of the cars on Serbian motorways was with such registration plates, and there were huge queues at border crossings near Subotica / Szeged, as well at border Dimitrovgrad-Kalotina... And these cars with gastarbeiters are also very easily distingushable - as they are mostly minivans, stacked with luggage, with boxes with extra luggage on the roofs, often with small trailers...

Ok, ok, I'm sorry. Maybe I'm used to stronger humor, I wouldn't even considered it rude.

Sign of upcoming elections or someting else...its just been announced that, come next Spring, construction will begin on the first section of planned Pojate-Preljina motorway, a connection between Corridors 10 (Belgrade-Nis motorway) and 11 (Belgrade-Bar motorway) through central Serbia...

Excuse me for being too lazy to search back in the thread, but when is the ring road scheduled to be completed?

Officially, by late 2013. But it will probably be sometime in 2014 when the last sections, between Orlovaca & Bubanj Potok (with handful of fairly complex tunnels & bridges), are open.

Of course, this is just the first ~50km...hopefully sometime after 2014, as financing becomes available, work will begin on new sections towards the satelite city of Pancevo, including a very expensive new road & rail Danube river bridge at Vinca.

Also, parallel with the motorway ring road, two inner city ring road expressways are being built at the moment:

It probably will since the section belongs to the E-80 network. And it's "Kursumlija" not "Kushumlij" or whatever you call it...
