If I'm not mistaken, finished motorway network form Vienna/Trieste to Istanbul/Athens looks like this, with sections under construction in blue:

28km between Demir Kapija and Smokvica in Macedonia are still not up to motorway standards.

I think M0 in Hungary is also not regular motorway, it has no hard shoulders. There's talk in Bulgaria that Sofia-Serbian border stretch will also be only a dual-carriageway.

Thanks for the update.
But why November?! Are the photos, at least, two weeks old?!

Sofia-Serbian border will be expressway, which means by new changes in the law that will be implemented before it's construction is finished - no hard shoulders, but speed limit at 120 km/h and everything else same as motorways.
By the way 2 or 3 km on the Bulgarian side to the Turkish border, and maybe some 20 on the Turkish soil also are expressways, not motorway.

Last official news (from December 6), was that it should be opened past weekend or yesterday (if weather permits) ... after that, no news

Quote:
Director of the "Corridor of Serbia" Mihajlo Misic said that this work brings to an end without any problems.

"We expect the last section to be open to traffic for the weekend or possibly Monday, which will depend on weather conditions," said Misic for Tanjug.

Probably even older - three to four weeks maybe.

The photos come courtesy of the official Sava bridge website, which updates its gallery at the beginning of every month with photos from the previous month - so we'll have to wait until early January to see photos of the currently ongoing work as the bridge is being prepared for its opening within seven to ten days.

Of course, we don't really have to wait...there are enough enthusiasts like us that take photos on their own accord:

Here we see some of the access infrastructure for the new bridge...

Ah, good old excuse - "weather conditions".
Its like Serbia is Siberia.

Novi Sad weather these past few days...Srbobran is not too far

Indeed, its one of a few recent projects in Serbia that have been finished within a reasonable time frame.

Though, there might have been some cost overruns - we'll find out its total cost soon enough. With the access roads and other infrastructure, it could approach ~500 million euros according to some claims.

How it all began....demolition of existing structures, removal of trees (October 2008)

One thing I don't understand. Is the last 5 kilometers from Novi Sad to Horgoš open now? Or is it still waiting?

Nope - otherwise, I would have already posted some sort of video or at least a photo from the opening event.
They must have run into some trouble at the last minute - I'm sure it will open before the week is over.

On December 19th, construction on the next section of Kragujevac-Batocina motorway should start, according to president Tadic and mayor Stevanovic.

Not literally next, cause they are skipping few miles of hard terrain (i think 4-5 km).
