Wonderful. Is there space for a lightrail in the median?

Yes, the space in the median will be reserved for tramways.

Stunningly beautiful! Great job Belgrade! But when are we gonna see some trams rolling over this bridge and on what lines (already existing lines or completely new lines are being concidered)?

Wow, they built a bridge, big deal. Took them about 10 years to complete I think.

@shpirtkosova: Have you documented yourself, or is it just envy? The bridge really is great, saw it with my own eyes in summer.
From wiki: "The construction began in 2008 and the bridge opened on 31 December 2011. All adjoining roads are planned to be constructed by 2013."
Also: http://www.savabridge.com/project_calendar.pdf and http://www.savabridge.com/

So your ten years is just hate-bulls**t and it's sad...

It will be some time before we see trams on the bridge - though money has been allocated for construction of tram infrastructure, work has yet to start.
I`m not 100% sure but I believe it will be an existing line that will simply be redirected towards the new bridge.

By the way, Ada bridge has been built with the future metro in mind ... the city`s future 3rd line will make use of it.
Construction of another metro bridge for the first line, quite possibly with road lanes as well, will start soon.

City tram seen from the new Ada bridge...

Great job Serbian friends. The new bridge looks fabulous. I will have to visit Belgrade some day to see this piece of art.

Guys, the bridge is awesome indeed, but the adjoining infrastructure looks also impressive. Do you have a map of it? I've tried to find it myself on Beobuild, but couldn't find it. To be more precise, I'm not necessary looking for a very detailed map, but more for a layout. My purpose is a better understanding of what the bridge will connect and from where to where. A simple drawing in Paint over a Google map would be also very useful. Thank you in advance.

The bridge is already marked in Google Maps.

I made a few quick pics so you can see the location of it in Belgrade:

You can see it for yourself...

The bridge will connect old and new Belgrade making the crucial link between Central and Southern Europe. It will also be part part of the future planned Belgrade Inner City Semi-Ring Road.

It carries 6 lanes of road, 2 lanes of light railway and 2 pedestrian lanes. The bridge has one 200m tall pylon and its 969m long making it the longest single-pylon cable-stayed bridge in the world.

P.S: Satellite imagery of Belgrade in Google Maps is from 2009, so you won't see the bridge because at that time, the construction was still in an early stage.

Ada bridge will directly connect two of Belgrade's most populous municipalities - New Belgrade & Cukarica, home to about half a million people.

The bridge itself, along with the necessary access roads is just a small part of a future ~17km long urban expressway of sorts - so-called UMP, which has been in planning since 1960's or 70's. The eventual cost may surpass one billion euros. Its actually one of two such expressways currently being built, parallel with the construction of long-delayed motorway ring-road:

By the way, the various access infrastructure for the bridge, valued at almost twice the cost of the bridge itself, won't be ready until 2013...meaning that access to the bridge will still be very limited until that time.

This is just the Radnicka interchange...
