Works on corridors 10, 11 according to plan

Belgrade, 7 July 2012 – Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Milutin Mrkonjic confirmed that works on the construction of road and rail corridors in Serbia are in full swing.

Mrkonjic visited the site on the eastern branch of Corridor 10 through Serbia from Nis to the Bulgarian border and expressed satisfaction with the pace of works which are on schedule even at high outside temperatures.

I am satisfied how the work is done, and we paid special attention to working conditions at high temperatures, he said.

He also visited the works on construction of a new railway bridge over the Morava near Cuprija.

Mrkonjic recalled that a new bridge is being built on the Gilje-Cuprija-Paracin railway, noting that this is the first section of this corridor to be built toward the country's south.

People like that live full-time in Germany for years, you can hardly qualify them as "gast"arbeiters anymore, most of them are German citizens. They just like to spend a month in Turkey on holiday.

Yeah, but that's just a lump term to describe the situation. I wasn't being all politically correct, but I didn't think it was mandatory for me to be in this particular situation.

I don't think it matters whether you were politically correct or not, it's just the way things are I guess.

well, sorry for being offtopic here, but until it is absolutely normal in eastern europe to get a salary of outstanding 3-500 euros (or less) in a month we can call them "gastarbeiters" i think.

i'd love to see some statistics or some report, how many of these eastern european people would rather work and move back to their home countries if their payments would not be a big slap in the face when working home.
of course prices for food and gasoline or taxes are equal (if not higher) in eastern europe compared to western europe. strangely only the paycheck doesnt grow.

so, i think, they were, are and will be "gastarbeiters" for many many years. the majority of them would definately go home if it would be profitable to work in -lets say- bulgaria or turkey.

There are reports that today at E-75 southbound, waiting time at toll booths near Ni is 120-150 minutes.

Better option would be to exit at Aleksinac, then to go on road 214 (30 km drive) to Ni.

Is it because they finished Belgrade-HU border motorway so they don't have to pass via Slo/hr?

Work is about to begin on a new access ramp for Pancevo bridge...

Quote:
Upgrading Pancevo bridge access

09 Jul 2012

As the Belgrade Land Development Agency announced, work on building a new Pancevo bridge access ramp officially begins this Saturday. The new circular ramp is constructed to prevent congestion created on the intersection for vehicles turning left from the Boulevard of Despot Stefan to the Pancevo bridge and vehicles from Visnjicka street going to the city center.

In the first phase, in the direction towards Višnjica from the city center, the right side of the Boulevard of Despot Stefan, will be added in two lanes with a length of 375 meters, which will approach the new ramps. This new extension will hold a new stop for public transport vehicles, as well as exit lanes for vehicles turning right to Mije Kovacevic street.

Ramp will be seven meters wide and 200 meters long with one traffic and one emergency lane. The ramp structure is combined, and will be partially built on the embankment, while part that connects to the bridge will be a separate concrete structure on pillars. Circular ramp also provides a inner green space covering half an acre.

At the site there is already activity, although works haven’t been officially opened yet. There they brought a large quantity of construction materials, and placing curbs on the gravel is routing access to the future embankment. On the other part of the site they prepared several large concrete beams that will carry the roadway construction.

In addition to building new ramps will be built a new water and sewerage networks, and the current will be reconstructed. The two pipelines will be replaced with new larger diameter, and the existing pipeline will be relocated under a new sidewalk constructed in the Boulevard of Despot Stefan. Sewer lines, which will accept all the water drains from the surrounding streets will be constructed with in a length of 600 meters, along with a new road, new electric installations and public lighting.

The contractor is a domestic company "AR gradnja" and a deadline for completion end of 2012. See the photos from the construction site below.
Site prep is underway:

Work is also progressing on the new ~22km bypass motorway in northern town of Subotica, albeit slowly.
Apparently, things should go faster now that one of the under-performing contractors has been replaced.
