True, the very smart mayor of Belgrade announced that he wants industrial zone built on the Danube bank there. Yet another river bank destroyed. If there was no Jovin and his Sava-Danube quay we would have no normal enjoyable river bank in the city.

Anyway in today's news, for what I thought was a satirical piece, but apparently not, building inspection ordered for the Kragujevac-Batocina motorway to be demolished and the road returned to previous state of single carriageway because it didn't have all the necessary permits. Apart from the road they ordered for two bridges to be demolished as well and one interchange.

So now instead of

we have to go back to

because of faulty administrative procedures.

faulty admin procedures or serious risks to safety? here, the constructions made without the required admin procedures can be approved ppost-factum, if not in a high particular risks for safety etc.

Yes, bur demolishing the bloody thing? It is too extreme for my own taste. Even if it poses serious hazards to road safety, I believe they can be mended. The only reason to demolish it, would be structural.

It won't be demolished, it's a political game to take over the rule of Kragujevac by the same POS that allowed Alpina to run a muck in Serbia (failed motorway concession and Beška II Danube bridge price fiasco) and the president of Serbia who wants to place his son to be the mayor of that city.

Well they say both. But the explanation for the 2nd is that drivers are so shocked when they switch from 4 lane section to 2 lane section that this constitutes a safety risk (so the fault is obviously on the good part of the road, not on the bad part of the road, thus they ordered the good part of the road to be returned to the previous state of a single carriageway)

Better idea was to ban traffic there altogether. Also a lot safer for all drivers.

There is some sick soup opera going on, not so easy to follow ...

Main characters are:
- Milutin Mrkonjić, Minister of Transport
- Ana Bekuta, folk singer (in relation with Minister)
- Saša Mirković, Bekuta's manager (recently hired as Minister's assistant for traffic safety)
- Zoran Drobnjak, Acting Director General of “Roads of Serbia“ (soon to be in court for corruption)
- Velja Ilić, Minister of Construction and Urbanism (they are late with issuing construction's permits)

That's another issue, not sure how related to this one though. But yes, the minister responsible for roads has a lover who happens to be a folk singer so he goes around and proposes to various mayors that if they organize a concert for her he will order a repavement of their roads. If not, they will be forgotten like Ana Bekuta was before she became his lover.

Indeed, but unfortunately that is why sometimes people can build things without all permits, because they can get away with it. Hopefully, demolishing Cathedral Plaza in Bucharest will stop these methods once for all.

Speaking about the motorway, that's another matter and demolishing it will be craziness . I can imagine Kusturica will direct a movie about it afterwards.
But the main question is, how on earth was possible to build it without all necessary permits? I can remember something similar in Romania, at Arad bypass motorway, when they started to work without building permit, but:
- it was for only 1 km in an absolutely uninhabited area;
- they had all permits and already requested the final building permit;
- they were in delay;
- they were assured the building permit will be issued within two weeks.
Even so, it was not quite all right.

Honestly, I'm sure no one will be so mad enough to demolish Kragujevac-Batočina motorway, but corruption always generate such crazy scandals and we know it very well in Romania.

Disregard the demolition craziness, it won't happen. It's clearly a political fight, they said 30 people died at the problematic point, but our forumers from Kragujevac say only one person died there in the last two years, and not even on the expressway, but on a nearby local road.

Slight digression, I've been told that is no longer on agenda on Romanian Forum. Don't tell me they are still thinking about demolishing such a nice tower? http://www.east-centricarch.eu/proje...ral-plaza.html

It won't be demolished IMO. The ownership has just changed hands, for a big amount - EUR 70 m, and certianly not for being demolished.

Zdravo braća, I need your help guys, I dont check this thread regulary so I am not really sure about state of your autoputevi. I want to travel to Istanbul by car.. so is motorway between Subotica and Niš fully completed in full profile? Any traffic jams on Beograd bypass? And which route would be better - Niš - Pirot - Sofia or more southern through Leskovac? And probably how long should take me the journey through Serbia?

Subotica - Niš is full profile (thru Belgrade)
Belgrade bypass is not full profile
Speed limit is 120 km/h, thru Belgrade is 80 km/h
Better route is Niš - Pirot - Sofia
