Sorry for so much questions, but... I still have more questions .

Is the shortcut for road x still Mx, e.g. M1?

Is the renumbering still valid or when will it get valid?

Maybe number 3.

Planned eastern bypass.

Аccording to the new numbering no more M, only numbers, but the old numbers are still present, the new numbers are still rarely seen.

EU rules explicit that the motorways in neighbouring countries which connect itself at the same border point cannot have same number marking. E.g. the former Brotherhood and Unity motorway is in Slovenia numbered as A2 and in Croatia as A3 (connection border point at Obrežje/Bregana), in spite of Croatian authorities' wishes that the second-longest motorway be signed as such (A2). So why is the "road 3" marked as such? It is obvious that the Batrovci-Belgrade motorway cannot be numbered as A3.

But it's not "A3" it's only "3"
like on the picture for road "1" and "4"

Any plans to put higher speed limits? 130 km/h on motorways, 110 km/h on expressways and 90 km/h on normal roads?

actually, I don't see any sense in that rule. The numbering should be the same but letter (if is used) may be different or not depending on country.

The most important thing in that is the route numbering. No one cares whether they add the letter A = autobahn, autostrada, D = diaľnica, dálnice, M = motorway or whatever.

I've never heard about such an EU rule rather I think it should always be the same numbering if possible. I don't like that stupid changes at borders (which will have no importance in time of Schengen).

(Well, Serbia is neither part of EU nor Schengen yet, but maybe in the future...)

Why on earth should the EU bother to make rules about road numbering? And I am sure that there is no such rules.

Maybe I was wrong in transmitting something from the newspapers... Maybe that rule really doesn't exist... I wasn't able to find anything about it on the internet.

I'm sorry for this little off-topic. EU si basically a great idea. But don't be dissapointed. Instead of unifying traffic rules within the EU territory (such as speed limits, road prefference rules, right of way in case of reduction of traffic lanes, obligatory equipment, etc.), representatives waste time by approving "necessary" laws like recommend radius and size of grown up bananas

Serbia ...

Work on installation of new lighting systems, worth three million euros, is currently being carried out in two Belgrade bypass tunnels, along with video surveilance and some anti-theft mechanisms, due to the said installations being subjects of theft in the past

Some old photos of Serbian highways (mostly from Vojvodina)

E-75 Near Novi Sad (yet as only two lane road)

E75 Near Subotica (yet as only two lane road)

E75 (yet as only two lane road)

The same goes here

Due to border crossing properties reconstruction, traffic was redirected through Horgos village

"Former" bypass of Beograd

Southern Serbia

Perhaps one of the most important interchanges in Serbia (Niš)

Thanks for your response!
The link is very helpful and now the motorway numbering is very logical. Considering the fact that motorways are the main routes through some country, it's very logical to have numbers starting from 1 (if not separate "A" designations).
