Wrong thread buddy. What you posted is definitely not a motorway, barely makes it as a decent road too.

"Roads of Serbia" blocked bank account

SB | 28 jun 2013th 21:05 | Comments: 0

Bank account "Roads of Serbia" on Friday, is blocked. The introduction of VAT is not the signal to increase tolls. The tolls stays the same.

In the Ministry of Finance, say that before the price increase, is necessary a detailed analysis of the business.

- They would have deducted VAT invoices paid to companies for road construction and road maintenance, and could theoretically be in the plus, when they enter the VAT system - according to the Ministry of Finance.

- The implementation of the legal obligations "Roads of Serbia" to pay VAT, does not automatically mean higher tolls.

Ilic: redeployed ancient oak tree, here's how ...

Velimir Ilic today announced that old oak tree that was on the Corridor 11 to be moved.
Oak that grows in Gornji Milanovac-Savinac village, on the route of the highway building will be preserved and moved to another location, said today in Čačak Minister of Construction and Urban Planning, Velimir Ilic.

He expressed regret that the locals of Savinac, and those who want to preserve the oak, they should speak to him last year when they worked on the project.

"It is impossible to avoid the tree, because it can not make the bend before the tunnel, so it must be removed," the minister said, explaining that the designers were on the ground, but there is no possibility that the tree stay where it is now.

According to him, the competent authorities are engaged in the Faculty of Forestry, and the others, to make up the "scheme" to move the tree.

"There is a proposal to encase tree in scaffolding, conserving, excavation, protection, and then low platform trailer hydraulic transfer to another location," said Ilic.

Bearing in mind that the oak is 48 feet tall, the root diameter of about 30, will do everything to avoid damage during relocation, the minister said, expressing hope that the tree will survive after that.

Party "Green Serbia" warned recently that it plans to harvest oak - old records and centuries of historical interest in the village Savinac, because he was on the route of the road Corridor 11

After that organized the petition against the cuts of oak, which was two days ago signed by 5,000 people.

Péage? Why the use of French? Even German would make more sense. Macedonia does the same...

The same thing goes for customs:

Maybe because French was primary foreign language in the past (French in passports, in driving licences - permis de conduire...)

Very good photos clouseau.
I observe that signs are in latin alphabet. Is this common in Serbia? or only signs in latin in motorways?

A quick question about the use of Latin/Cyrillic - could someone tell me what the practice was in Yugoslavia? Were all signs using both alphabets, or did it depend on local language usage?

It's been depended on local usage. Cyrillic was used more or less just in Serbia and Macedonia.

It is a pity that there will be delay in the costruciton of motorway stretches between Pirot and border with BG. What will happen now? A new tender will be made, right?
What about the last section that still misses to be constructed? I think the tender was already published a long time ago.

Actually, in former Yugoslavia, Latin was the only script at the signs, no matter where they were located. It is now defined by the law of traffic signs in Serbia that everything must be written in Cyrillic first and then in Latin/English below.

Here is the example:

sign in Zrenjanin from the 1980s, only in Latin

It was replaced in late 2012 by a new sign, according to law (usage of Cyrillic and road numbers).
