Chinese ministry approves USD 334 million loan

BELGRADE - The Chinese Ministry of Economy on Thursday approved a USD 334 million loan for the construction of a portion of the highway from Belgrade to Montenegro, said Serbian Construction Minister Velimir Ilic.

After the Exim Bank of China approved the loan in late June, now the Economy Ministry has done so as well, which is the last step in the procedure, Ilic told Tanjug at a reception held to mark construction workers' day.

In September, the main contractor - Shandong Hi-Speed Group from China - will begin work as on about 50 kilometers of highway from Obrenovac to Ub and from Lajkovac to Ljig, he said.

The highway should become part of an international corridor Timisoara - Vrsac - Belgrade - Bari in the future.

Belgrade to get another bridge on the Sava River

Friday, 08/09/2013|11:32 | Source: Beta

Quote:
Serbian Construction Minister Velimir Ilic said today that the same bridge as the Ada Bridge would be built near Baric, as part of Corridor XI.

He explained to TV Pink that an Invitation to Bid would be issued over the next few days for two concessions on Corridor XI - the area around the Zemun-Borca Bridge and a highway section from Preljina to Pozega.

- The Ada Bridge was supposed to be a part of the highway project on the right bank of the Sava River, but the highway was moved to the left bank five years ago, so that the Ada Bridge is now completely out of the game. A new bridge of the same profile will be built near Baric and opened to traffic from Surcin. It will have the same interchange as the Ada Bridge - Ilic explained.

Novi Sad's road & rail Zezelj bridge is coming along though there are indications of problems with contractors over broken deadlines, penalties and such ... you know, the usual in Serbia:

It feels like you're on Mars, so reddish. The same look'n'feel is on Bulgarian Struma highway. I guess it's because of large amount of iron oxide in the soil.

Hello everyone, please excuse my intervention...

I am driving from Beograd to Sarajevo in a few days and I would like to ask which route would you prefer, depending on which one is fastest, better road, nicer scenery, less busy customs stations etc

1. Beograd, turn at Kuzmin and leave Serbia at Sremska Raca (http://goo.gl/maps/KTNXU) or
2. Beograd, turn south of Ruma, Sabac and exit after Loznica (http://goo.gl/maps/PsWSN)

Your experience is greatly appreciated

I drove that route and all variations many times. Do not choose first route anyway. Travel time is longest than any other possible route. Drive second route but with one small change. On the motorway BG - ZG take the next exit after Ruma, exit Sremska Mitrovica, drive over Sava river close to Sremska Mitrovica, through Nocaj, Glusci, Bogatic and Zminjak. After Zminjak turn right on the main road M 19 towards Loznica. Road Ruma - Sabac is the road with very heavy traffic with many trucks and on the Sabac bypass there are more than ten semaphores and you need at least 15 minutes to pass Sabac. In that 15 -20 minutes you could pass 20 km. And leave the Serbia on the border crossing Trbusnica/Sepak. Do not drive on Mali Zvornik/Karakaj because the 15 km of road on the Serbian side between Banja Koviljaca and Mali Zvornik is in terrible condition. Have a nice trip.

Highway section between Levosoj and Macedonian border to open to traffic on August 24th

Wednesday, 08/21/2013|16:04 | Source: Beta

Quote:
A Corridor X highway stretch from Levosoj to the Macedonian border, about 21.5 kilometers long, will be opened to traffic by Saturday, August 24th, Koridori Srbije CEO Dmitar Djurovic announced today.

- The only thing left to do is to finish a toll gate, and we will do our best to have this done within the next few months - said Djurovic.

As it was announced earlier, construction of a stretch between the village of Levosoj near Bujanovac and the border with Macedonia commenced in 2008, and the contractor is Putevi Uzice.

Night shift on Corridor XI construction site
Monday, 08/19/2013|14:34 | Source: Blic

On a Corridor XI construction site, on the stretch between Ljig and Pozega, the night shift has been introduced because of short deadlines, the national broadcasting corporation RTS reported Sunday.

The highway from Ljig to Pozega should be completed in 2016, and one of the most important and most demanding sections is the 40-kilometer stretch between Ljig and Gornji Milanovac that is being built by Azerbaijan's Azvirt on the basis of a EUR 308 million loan from the Azerbaijani government.

For the work on this section, Azvirt hired Belgrade-based companies Energoprojekt and Planum as subcontractors.

- We work 24 hours a day with the work in the night shift being more intensive than in the day shift. There is less crowd and people are used to working at night - said Zoran Kovacevic, the head of Energoprojekt's construction site.

This stretch will feature five tunnels, 78 bridges, and it is to be completed 25 August 2016.
