Zezelj on pillars by year's end - Bridge in Novi Sad should open to traffic by summer 2015
Sunday, 02/23/2014|16:38 | Source: Novosti

Quote:

The entire structure of the new Zezelj Bridge will be erected by the end of 2014, and the bridge should be completely finished by the summer 2015, said Srecko Ugrica, the director of the project involving the construction of a bridge 466 meters long and 19 meters wide.

Two thirds of the necessary funds for this EUR 45 million project are provided by the EU and the rest by the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the City of Novi Sad. The contractor is the Spanish-Italian consortium AZVI, and the works are currently almost a year and a half behid the schedule.

White beauty

The new Zezelj Bridge will actually be a replica of the old one that was torn down during the NATO bombing of our country in April 1999. It will be completely painted in white.

Plan for construction of Belgrade's third Danube bridge moving forward...

Quote:
Construction of bypass with bridge near Vinca to cost EUR 470 million
Monday, 02/17/2014|12:27 | Source: eKapija

Construction of the freight railroad bypass Beli Potok-Vinca-Pancevo and the highway bypass Bubanj Potok-Vinca-Pancevo will cost about EUR 96 million and around EUR 205 million, respectively, whereas a road and railroad bridge across the Danube requires an investment of about EUR 129 million, Miodrag Poledica, state secretary in the Transportation Ministry, told eKapija.

- The total construction value of this project is about EUR 430 million, whereas the investment value of construction and designing, with all indirect expenses that include conditions and consents, administrative taxes, permits and expert supervision, totals approximately EUR 470 milllion - said Poledica.

General and preliminary designs and environmental impact assessments are already done for all aforementioned facilities. Preparation of the documentation and plans in 2007 and 2008 was financed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the City of Belgrade, and all documents were prepared by the CIP Institute of Transportation.

Poledica says that the estimated time to finish the construction is close to three years.

- These facilities are of huge importance for the City of Belgrade and the rest of Serbia, as well as for the Belgrade on Water project which demands the relocation of freight rail traffic from the Sava amphitheater to the new railroad through Vinca. Companies from many different countries have already expressed interest in building and financing these traffic facilities.

As the media were told by Milutin Ignjatovic, the CEO of CIP Institute of Transportation, the bridge near Vinca will be one of the longest and widest bridges in Belgrade given that it will have three traffic lanes on both sides of the road and railway tracks running between them.

No easy way to cross the Danube, I note Serbia wisely intends to future proof it by building a 2 x 3 lane profile. Is this Vinca bridge the first section of the famous Corridor XI from Belgrade to toW/SW Romania as well. ????

The motorway will stop at Pančevo. The traffic between there and the border with Romania is very far from being large enough to justify building a motorway. Making bypasses around the villages along the way would be more than enough.

Of course that makes sense. I would also think that Serbia will sooner or later adopt the Croatian and Hungarian trick which is to build half profile (1+1) motorways on routes where traffic does not justify full 2+2 and with land reserved for expansion if required. It also helps that the Hungarians and Croats sign them as Motorways when they obviously are not (yet).

It makes it much easier to revisit a project to upgrade it to 2+2 when you have all your standard EU Eco Nonsense procedures to follow in 10 years or so.

In addition to the list above;
1. Non - parallel road Bela Palanka - Pirot, the commencement date is set for 30 March, therefore 360 days plus, will come to 30 March 2015, but since there are unresolved issues along the route, expropriation and compensation, delay is inevitable, plus there is a VEP from another Contractor affecting this section, which implicates designing of new passes, few km alignment, etc. So, realistic completion date could be by the end of 2015, if we are optimistic.
2. Ciflik - Stanicenje, contractor Rubau has encountered numerous issues from the begining of the Project, their completion is less than 10%, can't give you the exact cash flow nor other data, but we can be sure that this section will not be completed as contracted by 20 May 2015, extension of time will not be less than 6 months, if this occurs the construction will enter the winter of 2015, so reasonable completion date is by summer 2016.
3. Stanicenje - Sarlah, completion by now, 8 months into the Project is less than 5%, tunnel works are progressing with satisfying speed, but the rest goes very slowly, prediction is that this section will not be completed by 2017.

M24: Gradac – Batočina 12 3,7km (July 2012 to ?) – ? –
for M24: map - thread; the section Batočina – Batočina (A1) 4,3km is planned

eastern section of corridor10 from nis to bulgarian border will not be a full-motorway before spring 2017 (and the chances for prolonging even this date are not low...)
