Are there problems because of the floodings with roads from Skopje to Kovin and then Vrsac?
Are there problems expected? I should drive there actually on 31. May, should I worry?

I was thinking to make a stop on the way in Nis, how is the situation there?

Sorry for my dumb question but the Belgrade bypass will be a motorway after completion, so it should be contained in my damn list. I've found the project page - also in Serbian - and the wikipedia article but unfortunately I don't get it .

The first carriageway is completed in section A. Section C is not yet u/c. The first carriageway is partly completed in section B b/n Dobanovci and Orlovaca (or Resnik?). The works on the remaining part of section B have never been started, haven't they?

The second carriageway is not yet completed or even u/c in section B. The works on the first ~9km section have been started in May 2014 - to be completed until 20xx? What's about section A, it seems like there is a 2.7km section still u/c isn't it (since 20xx, until 20xx)?

Yeah, it's a mess. I hope this map can clarify the situation. Finishing dates are fool's errands.



lines (two-lane carriageway with hard shoulder):
- blue: completed
- red: under construction
- gray: short-term plan
- dashed: long-term plan

circles (interchange/intersection):
- blue: completed interchange
- red: interchange under construction
- green: completed interchange, waiting completion of the second carriageway
- magenta: partly completed interchange, waiting completion of both carriageway (at the moment parallel intersection service ramp used for through traffic, not all entrance/exit directions available)
- gray: planned interchange
- crossed-over: at-grade intersection, not a grade-separated interchange

Do you have any information about the estimated completion of the two u/c A1 projects? When have to works been started for the 2nd carriageway near Batajnica?

It's hard to tell the when the Batajnica interchange and the missing section of the second carriageway will be finished. Dates given officially so far have been broken many times. My estimate is late this year or next year. I think the works started in 2006, but I'm not sure.

officials recently said that the batajnica interchange will be completed by summer of 2015... (which is a catastrophe having in mind when the construction started)

@arnorian
i'm afraid that the intersection between the pancevo road and the SMT will be at-grade..

This is a good example of forward planning. Build a half profile motorway first and put in full profile foundations so that adding the second carriageway is easy in future.

Pity more countries don't do this more often instead of building full profile or nothing....generally nothing in many cases. Only former Yugoslav states and Hungary seem to do it.

Overpasses, underpasses and even tunnels have been done for the second carriageway. But the most important is the finished land expropriation, it can causes severe delays because the courts are very slow if the owners of that land refuse the settlement. The Ostružnica bridge over the Sava is missing only the second deck. But the problem is large number of accidents on such semi-finished roads.

I can`t agree with you. Always there is better to build the full profile motorway, because it takes cca. same time as a half-profile, and costs only cca. 20% more than half-profile when you take into consideration that you have to build all viaducts and bridges as for full profile.

It is planned as a full four-road intersection. The road leading north towards the new Danube bridge is under construction. To the east an expansion of a street is planned (I think as 3+3), because Zemun is lacking a major artery.

that would be great but also highly unlikely any time soon...

in my opinion, upgrading "zmaj" interchange must be top priority after completion of the borca bridge!

even today this retarded interchange is dangerous and when the new danube bridge and the SMT are completed - the situation there will go from bad to worse...

The surface of the E75 from Leskovac to Smederevo is not the best, unfortunatly.
Also, something should be done against people crossing the motorway and people wanting to sell you strawberries at the exit toll booths.

And something with insufficiently illuminated old Zastava cars driving on left lane at 60kph

But what is wrong with people selling strawberries at exit toll booths? Once I bought the Serbian flag there.
