How about the old bridge?
Is it going to be demolished and rebuilt or is it just going to be refurbished?

Just to clarify - are you saying its going to be demolished and rebuilt, OR will it be refurbished? I'm guessing the latter (refurbished)...

The existing bridge deck will be demolished, the existing piers have already been reinforced to support a wider deck.

All right then, this seems legit enough for a new motorway like the A4

Not only the Nisava Bridge will be demolished, but all the bridges on the right side (eastbound) (total of 5), now accommodating traffic on main road IB43 (future A4) will receive the same treatment, but Nisava I is ultimately the biggest one.

All left hand side bridges have been built or being finished, traffic will mainly be diverted to the new carriageway to allow widening of the existing road, which when completed, will be the right carriageway of A4. This refers to LOT1 (Ciflik - Stanicenje) and partially to LOT2 (Stanicenje - Pirot East).

Ok, I see
The same construction technique is also used in the Greek A8 motorway
By the way, how much time will it take to rebuild all the bridges?
And as of now, how much of the A4 is constructed? (percentage if available)

Completion of the entire section is expected by September 2016, including bridges, and this is likely to be respected.

Prosek-Bancarevo (Lot1) 60%
Bancarevo Tunnel (Lot3) 83%
Bancarevo-Crvena Reka (Lot2) 30%
Crvena Reka - Čiflik (Lot4) 65%
Čiflik-Staničenje (Lot1) 35-40%
Staničenje-Pirot Istok (Lot2) 25-30%
Bela Palanka-Pirot zapad (Lot3) 10%
Pirot Istok-Dimitrovgrad (Lot1,2) about 50%
Dimitrovgrad Bypass (Lot1,2) less than 10%
Dimitrovgrad Tunnels (Lot3) - finished

These figures are bit outdated, but provides an overview of when the entire section could be completed, definitely not before 2017, if some of the persistent issues are resolved soon.

OK, I hope that 14 months are enough for that road.
Thanks for the info btw

What's your 2016 source?

I checked the project page, the deadlines are still September/December 2015 (same data in both languages).

I don't know how outdated your figures are but is it likely that any section will be opened in 2015? Maybe I should change the estimated opening dates of all sections to 2016?

A4: Prosek – Crvena Reka 22.5km (March 2012 to September 2015) – project – map
A4: Ciflik – Stanicenje 12.1km (June 2013 to September 2015) – project – map
A4: Stanicenje – Pirot-East 16.7km (June 2013 to September 2015) – project – map
A4: Pirot-East – Dimitrovgrad-West 14.3km (2010 to December 2015) – project – map
A4: Dimitrovgrad-West – Gradinje 8.6km (2010 to December 2015) – project – map
A4: Crvena Reka – Ciflik 12.7km (October 2011 to Late 2015) – project – map

A1

What's about A1?

A1: Prevalac – Donji Neradovac 16.2km (April 2012 to September 2015) – project – map
A1: Grabovnica – Grdelica 5.6km (June 2012 to November 2015) – project – map
A1: Vladicin han – Prevalac 10.1km (April 2012 to November 2015) – project – map
A1: Grdelica – Caricina dolina 11.8km (September 2013 to September 2016) [2nd c/w] – project – map
A1: Caricina dolina – Vladicin han 14.3km (September 2013 to April 2017) – project – map

The project page still has the same estimated opening dates.

Is there a chance that any section will be opened in 2015? Maybe I should change the estimated opening dates of the three "2015" sections to 2016?

I was passing through southern Serbia in June and I can tell that section Vladicin Han-Donji Neradovac was very advanced and thhat in fall can be opened.
Also section Grabovnica - Grdelica was improving, so probably can be opened within the end of the year.

So only tunnel Manajle is the long-term project missing on A1 ? I think it should be finished in 2017. Correct me if I'm wrong.

At least if those two sections you mentioned will be finished until next summer it would be outstanding. We are talking about +60 km of highway and that is pretty much...

Another question: Has the old carriageway between Horgos and Novi Sad been renovated since it became 2x2 in 2011 ? I remember that it was in really bad shape whereas the other carriageway was excellent and brand new.

...understand you and understand your "surgical incision"...advice - monitoring dates in serbia ONLY through political elections dates...that means ( for A4 ) somewhere in 2016...

How huge is the traffic from Grdelica to Preševo anyway? Why such interest in Serbia for building A1 and A4? Maybe because of joining to EU.
