"The bridge will be built within the construction of the second stage of E-70/E-75 highway at the part from the "Dobanovci" interchange to "Orlovača" interchange".

What does that mean? I thought the section from Dobanovci to the bridge (Sava) is to be completed in a month or so?

that they want to have the bypass a full motorway all the way from Dobanovci to Orlovača.
Which seams relatively easy, both of the tunnels are finished I believe and they only have to build 2 or 3 bridges, the rest is pretty easy.

But what about the rest of the bypass?
just east of Orlovača interchange there is a pretty large bridge needed and then the second bore of a tunnel, after that a ~10 km gap..
any news ?

No. The bypass already serves its purpose and is grade separated for the most part (except for those last 10km, where it comes out of the Tunnel and the meeting point with A3).
When the planned projects are finished there will be proper motorway access to the south of Belgrade.
If they go for the interchange with A3 next i think it should work for many years to come, a few km of 1+1 don't hurt. Some Alpine tunnels are 1+1 as well since many decades.

That is certainly true, but unfortunately Serbia is in a situation where we have much greater concerns then a couple dozen accidents on a road in a year. Our country must strain to pay for pensions and other necessary social programs which many people depend on for survival.

We can only hope that there won't be such as scarcity of resources in 10-15 years and the government can go back and expand wherever necessary.

Praise Perun

Finally, after three years of construction freeze, it looks like some money has been found in the state budget (yeah, like this was some issue earlier - its pure politics) and we might see work begin on Subotica bypass, so-called "Y branch".

Quote:
Continuation of construction Y branch of Corridor 10 in April

01/18/2016. | Tanjug

Building Y branch of Corridor 10, from Subotica to Kelebija border crossing should, after three years, to be continued in April, announced the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

It is projected that the budget set aside 197 million dinars for the missing conceptual projects and commencement of works, he said, "Tanjug" Secretary of State in the ministry Imre Kern and expressed expectation that the construction around the Y branch in the length of 28km will be completed during 2018, respectively.

Kern said that the contractor, who was elected in 2009, left the construction site and that it is already three years neglected the section of Corridor 10th

The so-called Y branch is actually bypass around Subotica, which will be built as a highway with six lanes.

- It is a very old project, the first section was built in the mid eighties. After that, they are often small start work, for example in 2001 and the last time in 2009, but never completed - said Kern.

The Secretary of State also recalled that previously built part of the northern branch of Corridor 10, from Novi Sad to Horgos, and pointed out that despite the "dream of Subotica has not yet been realized."

- The leader of the domestic consortium after taking over the work (of the failed "Nibens Group") was the company "Roads Uzice". They could not under these financial conditions to finish the job, so they left the site - said Kern.

As he said, the first time in three years in the Serbian budget is provided a smaller amount of 197 million dinars and the government will be proposed to the missing ideological projects be allocated about 30 million, and the remaining 167 million for the completion of a section of the existing highway to the intersection with Bikovački through.

- So we could achieve another connection Subotica to the highway, and it is significant that in the southern part of the city is more industrial facilities and cargo saobaćaj could be transferred to Y branch - said Kern.

According to him, the government should soon reach a conclusion on the distribution of these 197 million, which would be followed in February made the tender documents, so that already in April could start work.

Route Y branch will go from the highway to the so-called. Bikovačkoj loop south of Subotica, across Čantavirskog times, and the railroad Belgrade - Subotica to Kelebija.

Construction of second bridge over Sava near Ostruznica begins

Quote:
Belgrade, 19 Jan 2016 – Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced today that the bridge over the Sava River near Ostruznica, which is part of the project of construction of the Belgrade ring road as part of Corridor 10, should be completed by March 2018.

Vucic, who attended the marking of the beginning of construction of the bridge, said that the value of this project is RSD 3.57 billion and that it is financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB) under very favourable terms.

He said that this road will be approximately two kilometres long and will be built parallel to the existing bridge, as part of the construction of the second lane of the motorway on the Belgrade ring road.

In the last few months approximately 300 large and small bridges were opened, which is a practice which will be continued in the future, Vucic stated.

He explained that the biggest part of Corridor 10 will be finished before the end of 2016, and a small portion by March 2017, after which it will be possible to reach the Macedonian and Bulgarian borders by motorway.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic underlined that the fact that the construction of the second bridge over the Sava River is very important for Belgrade and specified that 10 domestic companies will be hired on this project.

She said that more than 200 workers will be working daily on the construction of the bridge, and in later phases even more than 350.

Mihajlovic stated that it is the task of the Serbian government to build corridors and motorways and to make Serbia a transit corridor of this region.

Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Serbia Andreas Beikos said that the ring road around Belgrade is very important since it is part of the international Corridor 10, noting that once completed, it will relieve traffic and increase security.

Beikos said that the EIB has approved a loan of €100 million to finance the construction of infrastructure in Serbia, of which €65 million has been approved so far, and that the most important section of the Belgrade ring road is from Batajnica to Dobanovci, on which the second bridge over the Sava River near Ostruznica will be located.

He stated that the EIB will continue to support the Serbian government and its efforts to build a modern road network, which will become a part of the trans-European road network.

The Belgrade ring road is a joint section of two European routes which connects: E-75 motorway, leading from Hungary to Greece and Bulgaria and E-70 motorway, leading from Italy and Austria to Romania.

It is a pity that this road is with a roundabout and not fully grade-separated.

The road is a city boulevard and grade separation is not really needed.
