Fresh aerial video of the Liberty bridge in Novi Sad ...

At least two or three more Danube bridges are expected to be built in Novi Sad over the next decade or so.

Opening of the Ljig-Preljina section of A2 is getting postponed. Tunnel work is behind schedule.

It's just reported that it's delayed but no estimated opening date

So much for my birthday gift

Yet, its a good thing that, for once, they're not ceremoniously opening half-completed stretches of motorway (read: death-traps)

that is just because there are no elections,
and in this situation, for them, it is much better to ceremonially open it later because the presidential elections will be due then..

Despite being counterintuitive at first, it is OK to sometimes translate names of landmarks, bridges, squares, streets etc. That's especially true when the original names would be counterintuitive or weird in the language they are being translated into.

For example, Bulevar kralja Aleksandra shouldn't simply be named Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard in English, since it conveys no original meaning whatsoever. Who is "Kralya Alexandra?", an English-speaking person might think. Instead, King Alexander Boulevard, or King Aleksandar Boulevard perfectly conveys the original meaning of the name. Same goes for Republika/e Square ==> The Republic Square, and similar.

Coupled with the fact that this is an english-speaking thread, I think translating some names would do more good than harm. Maybe also include both original and "translated" names like Most Slobode/Liberty Bridge.

Does anyone agree?

I don't agree 100%. If i'm looking for a street or square in a city I want and need to know the native name. You can add the translation to explain the meaning to other people, but the native name should always be mentioned. City and country names are a different story because the "translated" names are existing words in their respective languages. I can locate Serbia and Belgrade on the map without knowing the native name.

Most street names are not widely known or do not have an official translation. By giving the native name, one can easily locate the place, and by giving the additional translation he can also understand the meaning (if the translation makes any sense). There are some exceptions (like Red Square in Moscow), but usually even famous streets are known by their native name (like Champs Elysées or Avinguda Diagonal).

I agree that the original name must always be mentioned but I think it's nice to have an ADDITIONAL translated name if it makes sense.

I can agree with this part, and my opinion is that it can be useful.
On the other side we cannot translate everything. For example, in Belgrade you have Ulica generala Štefanjika (Улица генерала Штефањика), how will you translate it? Or as we started with the bridge (most Slobode), I tried to find Bulevar oslobođenja (Булевар ослобођења) in english. There is a lot of results, but not in Novi Sad as first. Or try to translate Stolni Beograd, Szerb utca, Trojičné námestie,... It will be very difficult, or impossibile to do it and to make sense for everybody.
Really the best way is: first original, and then translated name in brackets (or not).

If the Golubac bypass road is finished, will they downgrade the old road, shrink the holes in the walls to the historic size etc.?

Guys, could you please advise on the best route to get from Novi Sad to Sombor?
Also, is the BCP Bajmok usually busy during the weekends, compared to the ones around Subotica?

Yes, that route would be the best going from the motorway.
