New completion deadline for Ljig-Preljina highway October 31 – Criteria for selection of subcontractors on large projects to become stricter

Quote:

Representatives of Azvirt and the Corridors of Serbia announced yesterday that the Ljig-Preljina highway on Corridor 11 would be completed by October 31, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic invited local contractors to increase the number of workers on the construction site in order for the new deadline not to be missed.

Mihajlovic said that the government would no longer tolerate the cessation of works after 5 pm and that it was necessary that there were at least 200 more workers on the construction site, so that the tunnels and finishing works on the route would be completed on time.

She also announced that a bylaw making the selection of subcontractors stricter would be passed in a short time.

The head of the Belgrade-South Adriatic highway project, Dusan Djokovic, said that there were 600 workers on the construction site and that an additional 100 to 200 might be employed. He added that the initial deadline had been exceeded by two months due to unforeseen and additional works.

The Ljig-Preljina section is 40.3 km long, and the official deadline for the completion of the works was August 25. A parallel road with the length of 29 km along the Ljig-Preljina section will also be completed, of which 21 km has been finished so far.

Finishing works are in progress along the entire section. At the moment, 40 km of the highway in full profile have been paved, i.e. six lanes. Also, all the tunnels have been dug through.

The Azerbaijani company Azvirt is the main contractor, and the works, the total cost of which is EUR 308 million, are financed by the Azerbaijani loan in the amount of EUR 300 million, whereas the remaining amount has been provided by Serbia.

In addition to Azvirt, more than 100 Serbian companies have been hired as subcontractors and suppliers. The documentation has been prepared by the Institute of Transportation CIP for the Takovo-Preljina section and the Highway Institute (Institut za puteve) for the Ljig-Boljkovac and Boljkovac-Takovo sections.

Why is that tunnel sign blue if the road is a highway? It should be green then

In Serbia this sign is always blue no matter which type of road is it.

I love the way you always say 'fresh' video, not new or recent video. Thanks for posting. 😆

I've driven there earlier today, the incomprehensible and idiotic 50km/h speed limit on the SMT is still there and half way through there is an old police car ambushing behind the bushes with their portable speed-cam inside ripping people off for even a slightest speeding...well at least the reason for that moronic speed limit is clear now...

Next time somebody tell Air Serbia to put a cam on the plane and capture the whole highway during their regular flights from Belgrade to Sofia.

Morning rush-hour in so-called "Third Belgrade" ... part of the city that's sprouted somewhat ad-hoc across the other side of the Danube river ...some predict the population there could double or even triple in coming years, necessitating building of new infrastructure:

According to latest news, this crucial artery, simply called "Zrenjaninski put", could soon be turned into a proper boulevard, with three lanes in each way

With the Azeris wrapping up work on their section of Belgrade-Bar motorway next month, they've shown interest in additional road projects...

Quote:
Section of Ljig–Preljina motorway to be ready by end of October

Belgrade, 28 Sept 2016 – Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic received today the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Serbia Eldar Hasanov and representatives of the company "Azvirt” together with Executive Director for Europe Murat Turkoglu.

It was agreed that the section of Corridor 11 from Ljig to Preljina be completed and opened to traffic by the end of October.

Also, the proposal of Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic that the use of this section be fully free until the end of this year was accepted.

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia and representatives of the company "Azvirt" of Azerbaijan and Chinese company “Sinohydro ", with the support of the government of Azerbaijan and the government of the People's Republic of China, the meeting also focused on the ring road around Belgrade, or completion of Sector B of the Ostruznica Bridge to Bubanj Potok, and of Sector C, which includes the completion of the entire ring road around Belgrade, including the bridge near Vinca.

The participants in the meeting also discussed the potential new infrastructure projects along the sections Belgrade-Vrsac, Belgrade-Zrenjanin, Novi Sad-Zrenjanin and Novi Sad-Sabac.

A2, Ljig-Preljina section, tunnels "Sarani" & "Brdjani" ... some tabloids reported they were inadequate for tractor-trailers & such, ie. not as wide or high as they should be so they tested them:
