Final tunnel on Corridor 10 dug through – Completion of Manajle passage in 2017

Quote:
The Corridors of Serbia announced today that the right-hand tunnel pipe of the Manajle tunnel had been laid down, whereby the final tunnel on Corridor 10 had been dug through. The tunnel is 1,804 meters long, located on the south branch of Corridor 10, on the E-75 highway, on the Caricina Dolina-Vladicin Han section.

– Aside from being the longest road tunnel in Serbia, it has also proven to be the hardest one to build. With great efforts by the Corridors of Serbia and thanks to a considerable and constant support from the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, the problems which occurred due to extremely unfavorable hydro-geological conditions – unplanned inflow of underground waters, tunnel caving and strong ground pressure – have been successfully overcome – the Corridors say in a press release.

In September 2016, the left-hand tunnel pipe was dug through.

The Corridors of Serbia are the investor of the project, whereas the Bulgarian company Consortium Alliance X (Euro Alliance Tunnels JSC and Road & Bridges ltd). The contracted value of the works is EUR 36.25 million.

As stated, the tunnel will be equipped with the latest telecommunications systems, transport equipment and signalization, as well as video surveillance, a radio system, SOS posts, alcoves for malfunctioning vehicles, a fire warning system, a toxic gas detection and monitoring system and a speed measuring system.

The tunnel pipes will be connected by evacuation passageways intended for pedestrians and intervention vehicles. The works are expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

Look up - "Next elections in Serbia"

Kidding aside, its hard to say - they're still behind on some crucial sections/pieces of infrastructure.

Don't start celebrating just yet, last time I checked there were no planned Toronto-Belgrade hyperloops yet.

Huge polemics over Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway ... they can't make up their mind over the final route. I'd say - we build them all, there's no point to save money on such key pieces of infrastructure.

New road tunnel project going ahead...

Quote:
Wednesday, 16.08.2017.| 14:57
From Uzice to Bajina Basta by tunnel through Kadinjaca – Tendering for project engineers starts, applications by September 30

The Municipality of Bajina Basta has opened a tender for a preliminary design, detailed regulation plan and 3D visualization model of the future tunnel through the Kadinjaca hill.

The tunnel, which will be located on the border between the territories of Bajina Basta and Uzice, should shorten the route between the two towns by 6 km and reduce the time needed to travel between them by 15-20 minutes, as the projected vehicle speed in the tunnel is 80 km/h. It will also help drivers avoid a string of dangerous elbow-turns below Kadinjaca, which are often made impassable by snow.

The job has been estimated at RSD 48,688,423 without VAT, and Bajina Basta and Uzice were recently provided with RSD 40 million for the purpose by the Ministry of Economy.

– The project engineer will need to prepare all the necessary studies, analyses and other necessary documents in order for us to be able to present the requirements in negotiations with investors interested in the building of the most modern tunnel in Serbia – says project coordinator Ivan Markovic of the municipal administration of Bajina Basta.

He notes that the tunnel will be designed in line with European directives and models used in Germany in construction of similar structures. The winner will be selected by September 30, and the project submission deadline period is one year.

The tunnel will be 1,344 meters long and two bridges should be built as well, of 225 and 62 meters. The entrance from the direction of Bajina Basta, the access road included, would be located in the village of Zaglavak, whereas the exit would be located in Volujacko Polje in the territory of Uzice. The passage through the hill will bypass the section featuring the Memorial Complex Kadinjaca, dedicated to the soldiers of the Workers Battalion.

The general project was financed by the EU Office in Serbia with EUR 130,000.

Uzice is an increasingly important center of Westernn Serbia, especially with possible activation of nearby Ponikve military airport for civil flights - while Bajina Basta is a cool tourist town on Drina river

The motors also enable the transit system to save 10 percent in energy as well as drastically cut noise levels during operation. "The train will produce even less noise than a car, even as it goes speeds of 70 km/h," Zhong said.

Well say what you want about CrazySerbs or politic but the motorway stretch between Preljina and Boljkovci on the route Belgrad - Bar was among the better ones you can find down in the south.

Good job there!
The cost to drive there was very cheap aswell compared to the other countries around.
