You have now idea how WRONG you are

Anyway, back ontopic:Good new for Belgrade ring road. I hope a full ring road plans will spur eventually.

To better understand the scope of "the problem" let's have a look at some data about the Danube. Five biggest Danube's tributaries are:
1. Sava (1,720 m/s)
2. Tisza (790 m/s)
3. Inn (730 m/s)
4. Drava (670 m/s)
5. Great Morava (255 m/s)

and 4 out of "big 5" tributaries (except Inn) flew into Danube in Serbia, and that is where the Danube becomes huge ... and the bridges consequently ... so does the bridges cost

The bridges labeled on the map are:
1. U/C - Sava bridge, it is in later phase of construction.
2. TBC.1 - So-called Chinese bridge (in early stage of construction, could be completed in 3-4 years time)
3. TBC.2 - a bridge over Sava, a part of corridor XI, (it could/should be completed in few years).
4. TBC.3 - Ada Huja bridge (i do not know the status of it, probably still just in plans)
5. TBC.4 - Vinca bridge (still in planning)

And my understanding of the plan is to have one bypass on something like 5 km radius south from the city center (so-called Inner Arterial Half Ring / unutrasnji magistralni poluprsten). Part of that bypass is a Sava bridge that is u/c, and series of tunnels. It connects to existing bridge over Danube.

Another bypass is planned on something like 10 km radius north of the city center. A part of that bypass is a bridge labeled TBC.1 on the map which is early stage of construction.

A third bypass is on something like 15 km radius from the city centre, a motorway bypass.

Looks like we'll need a cool billion to complete all those bridges

Frankly, from what I understand, once Corridor XI crosses the border from Romania (Timisoara) into Serbia (Vrsac), it will head towards Pancevo, where it will merge with the Belgrade ring-road. You would then have to cross Danube (via the planned Vinca bridge) and Sava river (via existing Ostruznica bridge), before you're able to continue south, towards the town of Bar in Montenegro via the Surcin intersection, as seen on this map:

It depends on the country. Some did build wide roads, others didn't. Romania was unfortunately one of the ones that, in general, didn't. About Bulgarian cities I don't know, since I didn't visit any of them thoroughly.

1500km? that sounds a little bit too optimistic.
i would be glad if serbia has one day that amount of MW-km's, but in my opinion it's not realistic.

This is what I mean when I say "basic motorway network of ~1500km":

Corridor X: ~850km of motorway (~2/3 complete) to be opened by May 2012.
Corridor XI - ~ 400km of motorway connecting Romania to Montenegro, construction has already begun, six to eight years needed for completion.
Uzice-Zajecar - ~250km motorway from border with Bosnia to Bulgaria.

I don't think its unrealistic at all.

As far as Southern By-Pass (Ring Road/wtf ) is concerned , it is half built,it needs 1.5 km tunel and intersection (?) with regional road.

Blue = Northern By pass...
Orange = Southern By pass..

The Southern By pass must be done until 2012 because of Fiat plant.

There... Continue now.

Wow, finally some fresh photos of that bridge! Looks like its construction is progressing well, it might finally be open "on schedule"

Btw, according to some media, this is currently Europe's longest U/C bridge, at ~2,250 meters.

Loznica - Sabac - Ruma - Novi Sad - Zrenjanin - Timisoara
is another ~ 175 km expressway likely to be completed within next decade, connecting Bosnia and Romania. It is backed by solid traffic figures.

The official name for the so-called Corridor XI will be Corridor Vd, in accordance with the Pan-European transport corridor nomenclature adopted in Crete, 1994.
