That is not true. In Serbia everybody wants new Constitution. This one was adopted in 2006 in very questionable way, only 51% of people voted, and even that is too much, there have been many problems during voting (many people voted for their relatives etc). Anyway this is Serbian motorways thread.

You can find some early October photos on page 72. The entire bridge should be completed by March next year.

In other news, Austria's Alpina GmbH was awarded the job of building a new 16km section of Nis-Dimitrovgrad (BG border) motorway. Their deadline is 18 months.

Don't let the title of this thread fool you (common mistake) - our discussion here is not centered solely on motorways.

absolutely agree.

hope that in near future, and that would be 18-36 months, whole section between outskirts of Nis and border point at Gradina with Bulgaria will be full profiled motorway. At least, that would make lifes of locals who frequently use todays' road much more relaxed in summer months, having no extremely high traffic of ethnic Turks passing this route towards Turkey.

I'm frequently using the section between Nis and Bela Palanka or Pirot, and although the road is maintained well and next to perfect for the asphalt conditions, summer months are fully dangerous with thousands of these passengers per hour slowing down traffic and driving oftenly in tired mood (all the way from Turkey or Germany).
Funny, in the middle of July this year, I was going back from Pirot to Nis at 5am, and was bored so tried to count how many cars I could calculate that are going towards Bulgaria/Turkey. Within 53 minutes of my ride between the two places, between 5 and 6 am, Sunday, me and friend counted some 570 cars and 30something international plated buses going that direction. We noticed no more than 20 locally registered cars among these.

Motorway would make it much easier and faster route.

Austria's Porr, Slovenia's SCT awarded the job of building access roads for Belgrade's new Sava river bridge, valued at ~120 million euro. Deadline is 400 days from the moment the contract is signed.

Quote:
€123 M For Bridge Access Roads
09 Nov 2010

With a two year delay and after several changes within the project, tender procedures for the contractor of "Radnicka" and "Novi Beograd" junctions have been completed. The value of the works planned is estimated at 104 million Euros(exc. VAT).

Although it was expected for this tender to be conducted together with the ones concerning the bridge itself, due to disorganization, the access ramps are getting their projects and contractors two whole years after the works on the construction of the bridge started. The pillar and major construction elements are well under way, though, the tender in question eases a fear that the bridge could "hang in air".

The city will finance the southern access ramp "Radnicka" with 68 million Euros, connecting it with the "Hipodrom" junction which is also under construction, and whose completion is planned for the end of 2010. The task has been appointed to "PORR", who already participates in works on the main bridge construction.

Slovenian "SCT" contractor won a tender for the construction of the northern access ramp "Novi Beograd", where the work costs have been estimated at 36 million Euros.

Calling of this tender, beside it's major delay, differs from the originally defined criteria. It was initially planned for the construction of access ramps to be entrusted to domestic Serbian contractors, with the use of budget funds. In the meantime, the whole project was financed from foreign based credits, whereas domestic contractors were excluded due to the terms of the foreign creditors.
