Agreement for building Zezelj Bridge in Novi Sad signed

Quote:
Novi Sad, 25 Jan 2011 – An agreement on the construction of a road and railroad Zezelj Bridge across the Danube in Novi Sad, worth €45.3 million, was signed today at the Vojvodina provincial government.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Bozidar Djelic by Head of the European Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert, President of the Vojvodina Executive Council Bojan Pajtic, Novi Sad Mayor Igor Pavlicic, Director General of Zeleznice Srbije Milovan Markovic and representative of AVZI consortium Hose Alejandro Serrano.

Djelic stressed that the Zezelj Bridge is extremely important for Serbia to fully exploit its pan-European transport corridors.

He noted that according to the Danube Strategy, Serbia, together with Slovenia, Romania and Austria, was tasked with coordinating the issue of road, railroad and river transport.

The new Zezelj Bridge will be longer than the old one by almost 100 metres and taller by 1.2 metres so that tall ships could sail below it, Djelic said.

This is of crucial importance as the bridge is at the crossroads of two important routes, namely road and railroad Corridor 10 and river Corridor 7 on the Danube.

Degert said that the construction of the bridge will start in late summer this year and added that another €5 million will be provided through the Instrument of Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) for the construction of split roads and renovation of the railway.

The new bridge will have two tracks in each direction and traffic arteries 7.7 metres wide and two pedestrian-bike paths.

It will be built of steel structure with two arches and one pillar which will be the reinforced central pier of the former bridge that was opened for traffic in 1961 and destroyed in April 1999 during the NATO bombing.

Serrano said that Spanish builders will assemble metal arches on the shore and then put them in place with barges, which significantly reduces the cost of construction and makes these companies competitive.

Serrano specified that the bridge should be built within the next 32 months.

The construction of the Zezelj Bridge is co-financed by the EU, the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the City of Novi Sad, while Zeleznice Srbije assumed the rights and obligations of the investor of the bridge’s construction on behalf of Serbia.

Well, they surely know how to take pictures. The bridge is spectacular. How long the bridge will be when completed? And can you please place the bridge on a map?

Its lenght will be about equal to the existing Beska bridge - ~2200 meters.
Once its opened to traffic sometime this year, the old bridge will be closed for renovation work.

Horgos-Belgrade motorway to be completed by 2011 end

Quote:
3.2.2011 14:53:00 | Author/Source PressCut

Serbian minister of environment and spatial planning Oliver Dulic says the Horgos-Belgrade motorway will be fully completed by the end of 2011. He explains that Koridor 10 company has signed an annex to the agreement with contractors, taking into consideration the objective circumstances for the delay in works, so the new deadline for motorway completion has been set to July 15.

The deadline for completing the Subotica bypass is October 10. Dulic underlined that all the set deadlines were realistic and at the given tempo the Horgos-Belgrade motorway would certainly be finished by the end of the year.

And finally, construction has started again on Belgrade's Obrenovac-Surcin bridge....

Quote:
Construction of bridge across the Sava continues on February 2
Market News & Opportunities
Tuesday, 01 February 2011 21:14

Works on the bridge across the Sava, which will connect Obrenovac and Surcin, will start gain tomorrow in Obrenovac. The six-year building of the Obrenovac bridge was discontinued in 1999 and Mostogradnja has been hired to continue its construction. The bridge structure, part of lanes, and the access road on the side of Surcin have not been finished yet, while works on access roads on the side of Obrenovac have not even started yet.

Steel part of the bridge across the river is 450 meters long, while another 180 meters on the side of Surcin will be built of reinforced-concrete segments, which will make the entire bridge structure 630 meters long.

The bridge will be 14.5 meters wide. There will be two traffic lanes, pavements on both sides and two belts for infrastructure installations. The bridge structure above the main stream of the river will consist of six steel grid structures, while the Sava river will be navigable for all vessels up to 16.5 meters high.

In addition to the bridge across the Sava, an access road will also be built on the territory of the municipality of Obrenovac, from the Valjevo road to the Sava river, while a branch road from the bridge to the regional road in Boljevci will be built on the territory of the municipality of Surcin.

The bridge across the Sava in Obrenovac is part of a longer road, so-called Srem's Gazela, which will go from the bridge to Dobanovci cloverleaf interchange on the highway. The significance of this road lies in shorter length of the road and time of travel and higher level of traffic safety.

It will take less than half an hour for drivers from Obrenovac to reach Belgrade-Zagreb highway via the bridge across the Sava and the territory of the municipality of Surcin, and it will also open a possibility for them to take the bypass around Belgrade. The Srem Gazela, from the bridge in Obrenovac to Dobanovci cloverleaf interchange, is about 20 km long and it is divided into three sections. Works are currently underway on the second section seven kilometers long.

Is that bridge (Obrenovac-Surcin) one lane, or two (one lane in each direction)? It's really hard to tell from the angle from which the pictures were taken.
