thx for explanation. tell me, this section near NS - is it connected to resto of NS-BG motorway, or it is also isolated with expressway? and what about that intersection at NS bypass with traffic lights - does it still exist, or there is made multilevel intersection?

Nice pictures

The existing part should be completely repaved after the completion of the whole motorway, because it's in really bad shape

From the pictures on this page I can't see anything wrong with the pavement.

Check the previous page.

This ought to be repaved. Cracks like that are about one winter away from becoming a pothole.

About that....

Serbia needs EUR 2 billion for safe roads

7.4.2011 14:36:00 | Author/Source PressCut

EUR 300 million, the annual budget of Serbia’s national road construction company Putevi Srbije, is far from enough for maintenance of Serbian roads. The International Road Assessment Program conducted an analysis in July 2009 on Serbian roads and the results were disappointing.

In order to maintain 11,000 kilometers of its roads, Serbia should allocate around EUR 2 billion every year, only then would the roads be safe. Serbia has barely invested any funds in its road infrastructure over the past 20 years. The works done were mostly financed by foreign banks.

I think they are doing a good job with E75 from Hungarian border to Belgrade. I think it's going to be a good motorway when it's finished.

Furthermore, through Croatia and Slovenia the road tax is also more expensive and in southern Austria there are some tunnels with toll.
Bratko, thank you for the feedback.

What will be done on the place of today's Batajnica exit? Which type of interchange will be built?

Today's situation is a little bit confusing and impractical - 2x2 motorway is narrowing to 1x1 at the junction/exit and then it's expanding to 2x2 again. I assume that few houses are going to be torn down to make space for a new interchange

Thanks

So it will be some kind of double interchange, which would allow the eastbound traffic to go faster and with no level crossings towards Zemun and Belgrade, and there will also be a "normal" exit for Batajnica... Seems nice and efficient

Reconstruction of Gazela bridge, motorway through Belgrade:

Quote:
The second phase reconstruction of the busiest Belgrade’s bridge started in 15th of March, and “Mostogradnja” workers are working around the clock to complete the repairs as soon as possible. In just one month after the start of the second phase, a significant part of the plan was done and we visited construction site from where we bring you the latest photo report.

Works are taking place in parallel at the bottom of the main span and on the right side of the upper pavement slabs. At the bottom they installed hydraulic equipment that was used to raise the bridge construction some 10 centimeters from the base, in order to provide easier access during the reconstruction. The steel section of the bridge is being sandblasted, and new corrosion protection and insulation layer is applied, while on the top the damaged asphalt and the protective fence is removed, setting up a new layer of hydro-isolation and installation of new expansion joints.

The greatest length of the bridge already have a new formwork set for concrete safety barriers, new drains have been placed, as well as a completely new system of atmospheric water drainage. Pedestrian path on the right side of the bridge was cut in parts and removed of the bridge structure, and since the middle of the bridge dented due to overloading further strengthening of the structures will be done, so that in the future bridge could carry significantly more vehicles than the original. To remind, the “Gazela” was designed for 40,000 vehicles a day, while in the recent exploitation of the bridge exceeded by up to 160,000 vehicles.

In addition to works on the main span and central thoroughfare, restoration flows on the entry and exit ramps as well. The entrance ramp from Vladimira Popovica street, and exit ramps to the Vojvode Misica boulevard and the Savska Street are closed due to repair works.
This is the first such reconstruction work on this important bridge since it was opened in 1970, after four years of construction:
