FRANCE EURO 2016 - Venues
Quote:
Quote:
the book France Italy Turkey ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are just three bids left for EURO 2012. What I was thinking, almost all West-European hosted a EURO. Since almost no change has happened in Eastern Europe in football terms, why not change the EURO thing, and also allowing it for regions or multiple countries to host? Here you can dicuss the most beautiful and/or impossible EURO's. How bout: EURO 2016: London?! Wembley - 90.000 Twickenham - 82.000 (I'm sure they'd co-operate on this unique operation) Emirates - 60.000 Stamford Bridge - 43.000 (At the time it would be probably 60.000 or something, thanks to Abramovich) The New Valley - 40.000 White Hart Lane - 36.000 Boleyn - 35.000 Selhurst - 26.000 You'd have eight stadiums, of which two need slight expansion. The beautiful thing is; everything is happening in one city. Not across the country where people need to travel 700 km to the next stadium, they just need to travel a couple of kilometres (or miles, whatever you prefer) Last edited by www.sercan.de; May 28th, 2010 at 02:33 PM. |

And... are you forgetting that there must be an home national team automatically qualified? You're giving the home advantage to the same countries over and over again: Spain, Germany, England, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, England, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, bla bla bla. There are many european countries - specially eastern europeans - that wish to host an european championship, to improve their facilities and to be heard around the world... and you're thinking in regions from countries that don't really need it. Giving an european championship to Euskadi could be seen as an UEFA statement supporting Euskadi's independence. |

No. Its a rubbish idea. Plain and simple. I didnt say you could'nt talk about it. I just put my two cents in.
One it would'nt benefit a nation as a whole, and considering countries in Europe are no bigger then certain states in America there is no point cramming 16 teams into a single city. The whole point of having a nation holidgg such an event is for a once in a life time oppurtunity. If England were to host the Euro championships just in London imagine the hoo hah. Sorry. You can start threads on whatever you want. But this is a ridiculous idea. My point of view.
