In Germany, the border crossing is also numbered. For instance, on A30, the exit #1 is the Dutch-German border, exit #2 is the first actual exit: Gildehaus.

Those are just two interchanges in quick succession. The Ruhr and Berlin are full of them.

Some countries number every exit ramp different, for instance in the United States, a cloverleaf would get A+B because there are two exit ramps. Germany doesn't have this practice (thank God). There are exits which get an "a" suffix, but those were just added later.

It's the same thing on the A7. The first exit after the DK border is #2

Those are just two interchanges in quick succession: A13-A15 and A13-L526?
interchanges with... the signs don't show anything

These are the only the first signs announcing the distance to and the name of the exit. All the rest (to which towns and roads, etc.) is on separate signs 500m before the exit.

Ah, like these ones...,right? (oops, I was absent-minded: in this sign the distance is not 500m!)

but those don't have exit number signed. only those in 1st degree have indicated exit number (and are put 1000 m before exit usually)

German traffic news

Hey!
The German news site of Westdeutscher Rundfunk has recently renewed the traffic section. Really cool and much better arranged than before. Now you can just browse through the whole of the country! Check this:

And where do you see the problem with that?
Germany actually NEVER use the interchange numbers, they are always refered to with their name (in navigation, traffic reports, etc.).

i am just commenting because we are talking about exit numbers, i see absolutely no problem with that because in HR we have the same system (except exit signs in 1st degree are put 2 km before exit). we also rarely use exit numbers instead of names

They use this practice in the Netherlands as well.

Referring to exit number is something American I guess, where you have 25 exits for one medium-sized city. In Europe, most countries have unique exit names for every interchange.

Every morning the danish road-something, Vejdirektoratet gives traffic updates 2 or 3 minutes in all news broadcasts on TV2 and TV2 News from 6 to 8 or so. When they talk about accidents, congestions roadworks etc. they always use exit number and name. So it isn't only americans who do that.

That's quite amusing because on American traffic updates (in Washington at least) I never hear them refer to accidents using exit numbers, but rather, overpass street names.

I always hear, "An accident on Westbound I-90 at 150th Ave SE" rather than "An accident on Westbound I-90 at exit 11".
