This A38 was really bad with bugs, because you'll drive through rapeseed fields all the time. I stopped to clean the windshield, but I couldn't keep it clean for more than 5 minutes of driving.

Hello guys,

nothing important but I just found an old map of German Motorway system I have created about 7 years ago. There are also planned motorways drawn as well as line-height according to number of lanes.

Deutsche plans and construction according to wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Au...eutschland.svg

Is widening of current autobahns included in the map? Or is it just route extensions?

Widening isn't included. An from the first look, I would say that it isn't up to date as well.

Source was back then in 2003 autobahn-online.de incl. all widening (grey lines on the map) that was written on that source.

Chris: are these all motorways that are missing on the map / built since 2003? I might add it once I find some time.

Pavement looks SO smooth on German roads. I'm so jealous!

Hmm, actually many Autobahns are quite rough with old concrete pavement. Pavement quality on motorways in the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France's toll roads are actually much smoother, to name a few.

Pavement damage in Germany is exacerbated by the excessive truck traffic. On the other hand, the usage of concrete in Germany leads to few areas with rutting. The Netherlands exclusively uses an porous asphalt pavement which comes with heavy rutting if not repaved every 4 - 7 years.

A39 Salzgitter - Braunschweig - Wolfsburg

A photoset from all of A39 northbound. It connects three larger cities; Salzgitter, Braunschweig and Wolfsburg, Braunschweig being the largest with 246,000 inhabitants. Wolfsburg is probably most well-known because of Volkswagen.

Rumours in the Netherlands are the building of (the missing link) E233 as a motorway....

But i cant find any confirmation in German. Can somebody confirm this?

I can confirm that you won't find anything in German about this. This road will never be a motorway.

This road will probably be an "Autobahnähnliche Straße" (a.k.a. Gelbe Autobahn), a concept the Dutch media doesn't understand because there aren't any in the Netherlands. They see 2x2 with interchanges as a motorway, even if it is technically not a motorway.
