The A94 from AK Munich-East to AS Forstinning was opened in 1989 (OSM).

The plan approval procedure for the section Forstinning to AS Pastetten was started in December 1987, the final order was passed in March 2002. After a long court-way the construction started in March 2008. The 5.9km section was finally opened for traffic on 1st September 2011 (OSM).

The plan approval procedure for Pastetten - Dorfen started in 1999 (OSM). After several iterations the order was passed in December 2009. Also after a long court-way, the groundbreaking ceremony for "preliminary works" of the 17.4km long section was on 12th April 2012. These works include wire routing, archaeological excavations, construction of some small bridges (3 bridges were tendered in early 2013; construction period from 12th August 2013 to 30th June 2014) and a small erosion on the ground investigation. The construction of the 280m long Lappachtal viaduct (13.2 million €) will start in May 2013 and will be finished in August 2015. The preliminary works end is estimated for 2015 (40 million €).

The plan approval procedure for the 14.9km long Dorfen - Heldenstein section started in September 1998 (OSM). To keep a long story short: Order was passed in November 2011; complaint was canceled; final and conclusive in May 2012.

Both sections will get money of the "Infrastrukturbeschleunigungsprogramm II". All in all there are 53 million € available from 2012 to 2015, thereof 18 million € in 2013. But the total costs are much higher: 335 million € (for 32.3km = 10.4 million €/km). Because there is no budget for it, the politicans are discussing about PPP. The desicion is estimated for late 2015, the Federal budget should participate with 50 percent.
The official completion date is 2018, but I think, that is impossible!

The 4.3km long Heldenstein - AS Mühldorf-West section was built from August 2009 until 5th December 2012. Costs: 70 million € (OSM).
The Autobahn from AS Mühldorf-West to AS Altötting has a length of 19.6km and is in service since December 2006 (OSM).
The 7.5km section from Altötting to Neuötting-East was opened in year November 2000 (OSM), the 5.3km long section to AS Burghausen is in service since 1993 (OSM).
The next stretch is a grade-separated highway with only one carriageway. The replacement through two Autobahn sections (14.3km and 15.6km) is only further demand within the BVWP 2003 (OSM).

The first carriageway of the Malching bypass was opened on 23rd October 2009. The length is 5.8km. The construction of the 2nd carriageway started in October 2012, the completion is estimated for December 2013 (OSM).

The plan approval procedure for the Malching - Kirchham section (6.0km) started in 2006 (OSM). It was officically canceled in March 2013, and a new procedure was started. A construction period of 5 years was announced (about 60 million €).
The plan approval procedure for the last section from Kirchham to AD Pocking was started in June 2012 (OSM). The construction period was declared to 3 years (12.5km; about 160 million €).

A little offtopic, any nice places for a quick stop on this route?
http://goo.gl/maps/57zFY

I will be visiting a friend on Sunday and thought maybe to stop somewhere else on the way too. Nürnberg, Bayreuth, Regensburg I already visited, so something besides these.

I love the restaurant on the bridge in central Nürnberg

If you're into trains, there's this great museum in Neuenmarkt:
http://www.dampflokmuseum.de/cms/
with a lot of working steam machines and a nice (and big) rail model of the Schiefe Ebene, the "intense" ramp starting there.

A bit farther, in Kulmbach they make my favourite Weizen, the Kapuziner (by the Kulmbacher Brauerei), and they have a museum:
http://www.kulmbacher-moenchshof.de/...Moenchshof.htm
I didn't visit it, there was the city beer fest in Marktplatz

I ate some nice steak in Ebensfeld and Wirsberg, it was part of a bike trip from Venice to Berlin via bike+train, great travel.

Another stretch of the A71 was opened today.

Autobahn: A71
Section: AS Artern <---> AD Südharz (A38)
Length: 18 km
Cost: 191 million €uro

SOURCE (in German)

The (red) section Sömmerda-Ost <---> Junction with B85 will be opened in the end of 2014.
This is the last part of the A71 which is currently under construction.

They should extend A71 northwards to A14 near Bemberg.

Another question: Erfurt has an almost complete ring highway system. Will they link that eastern ring road to A38?

The state of Sachsen-Anhalt has added the northward extension of A71 to A14 near Plötzkau to the Bundesverkehrswegeplan wishlist.

Meanwhile, what is happening with the A143 extension near Halle? I haven't read much about that in recent years.

Funny road I encountered on my trip to Germany today. The B214 runs below the elevated B6 dual carriageway in Nienburg (northwest of Hannover).

Most of the Autobahns and expressways around Erfurt are quite far from the city. If you drive from one neighborhood to another in Erfurt, chances are small you will use A4 or A38 unless you like to detour.

On the other hand, Erfurt is quite well served from other parts of the region for a city of this size. Erfurt has only 200.000 inhabitants. However intracity traffic is not by expressways, like in western and southern Germany. There is no "Stadtautobahn".

B6 / B75 Bremen

I filmed the B6 / B75 in Bremen. It's a mostly four-lane expressway, but has two segments with only one lane each way. Apparently B6 is the busiest Bundesstraße of Germany with 100.000 vehicles per day. I wonder how much traffic that two-lane viaduct carries, perhaps as much as 35.000 - 40.000?

I read in August 2012, that the plan approval order will be delayed, thus the order will not be passed in late 2012, but in early 2013.

Now latest news: > click < (15th of January 2013).
The debat within the plan approval procedure was already done.
