And during rest stops westerners were encouraged to keep contacts with locals to a bare minimum.

Pfandertunnel near Lindau / Bregenz [AT] opens on 4th of July as 2x2!

Sadly it also means the end of the korridorvignette that allowed a cheap way to go from DE to CH through AT. Now everybody driving from DE to CH over the highway needs to buy a 10 day ticket for 8,90 instead of the 2 euro korridorvignette. This fuels some opposition also in Germany who fear major traffic increase on the roads along the Bodensee between Lindau and Bregenz.

A10 Berliner Ring (AD Schwanebeck - AD Spreeau)

I filmed the entire ring road of Berlin. Here's part I, the eastern ring road.

Is there a list of bridges that are closed/damaged/destroyed by the recent floods?

A10 Berliner Ring (AD Spreeau - AD Werder)

Part II of the Berlin ring road, the southern segment from Dreieck Spreeau west to Dreieck Werder. A nice six-lane Autobahn. I filmed this on a Saturday, I presume A10 is rather loaded with trucks during the week. It's quite obvious that the segment from AD Nuthetal to AD Potsdam has the highest traffic volume.

It's weird to compare the standards of Dreieck Nuthetal, with its impressive 3-lane merge, and the poor section between AD Potsdam and AD Werder.

There is nothing poor about this section. It's got a proper RQ 37,5 cross section with gentle gradients and other guidelines matching design features.

Yep, I pointed out the wrong section: I was thinking about the last seconds of Chris' video, which come after AD Werder

A10 Berliner Ring (AD Werder - AD Havelland)

The third video covers the western part of the Berlin ring road, which is the most substandard part, shoulders are lacking almost entirely. The speed limit is generally 120 km/h. This part also has the lowest traffic volumes of the Berlin ring road.

A10 Berliner Ring (AD Havelland - AD Schwanebeck)

The fourth and last video covers the northern part of the Berlin Ring Road, from the Havelland interchange to the Schwanebeck interchange. Both interchanges are currently under reconstruction.

Do you drive around to a particular destination, or just for the sake of driving on a motorway?

The groundbreaking ceremony will be on 4th July 2013.
It happened, see press release. A 2nd press release from the Saxony Ministry was also published.
Both are sparing with detailed information like completion date, but at least the 2nd one mentions the costs of 89 million €.

A further source contains the estimated completion date: 2017.

I've found some detailed information .

Starting with a press release announcing a touring exhibition. This press release contains two links, the first links to the updated DEGES project page, but the most interesting link is the 2nd one: > click <. The description of the winning design starts on page 16. You can find the facts on page 21. The 535m is the total length ("Strombrücke 535m (river bridge?), davon Hauptstützweite 350m (thereof main span), Randfelder 88m (and ramps?)")

Nice find. Strombrücke can be translated as "main bridge" (excluding ramps / Vorlandbrücken). Haupstützweite is "main span" and Randfelder could be "side spans". If you add the Haupstützweite + Randfelder, you should get the approximate length of the Strombrücke, depending on the width of the pylons.
