A3 wird für einige Jahre Dauerbaustelle

The map is not accurate. I've already reported that the section east of the river Main will be widened in 2015/16. The preliminary works on the section b/n Marktheidenfeld and the Main bridge will begun in late 2015. The widening will took place in 2016/17. In 2016 there will be a 16km building lot but the eastbound carriageway will have 4 lanes east of the i/c Wertheim - which is located futher east than on the map -, which will already be widened in 2015. The Main bridge was renewed 1997-2001 (310m). This little section is too short to be called a slowdown section ("Beruhigungszone") b/n two long u/c sections.

There are already 3.1km 2x3 in service around the Haseltal viaduct (678km). West of it, there is the 290m Rohrbachtal viaduct. I guess it could be renewed in 2016/17 and the final upgrade b/n Rohrbrunn and Marktheidenfeld will be done in 2018/19 (~11km). This part still depends on funding.

@Road_UK: Any news are good news, aren't they

PS: There are a campgrounds where cars with yellow license plates usually take a rest.

B458 Dipperz bypass

The B458 Dipperz bypass was opened for traffic yesterday (OSM; 3.9km; 12.5 million €). The plan approval order was passed in June 2009 and the groundbreaking ceremony happened in June 2010 (sources with pics: > click < and > click <).

Sorry, the project page said November 2014 and the local press has not announced the opening...

Now that this has been guessed (E30/A2, E45/A7, A37 near Hannover)...

If there was an exit somewhere in the autobahnkreuz triangle those ramps would make sense.

It makes sense to allow for easy and fast detours in case of an accident, though.

Redundancies are clear signs of quality of every network. Not a single link road of these junctions is needless.

The official project start of the A7 widening b/n Bordesholm and Hamburg is on 1st September 2014. The construction will begin in the 4th quarter 2014. The upgrade will be completed in late 2018, see press release.

Horrible traffic on the A9 from Ingolstadt to the Munich Airport. Good thing I checked Google Traffic before driving there. So I went another route via B301. It was a relaxed drive with no traffic jams at all.

Only an idiot in Freising almost hit me while merging from the right on a street...

It is to be noted that the pictures in 2014 were taken going from East to West, while the photographer having taken the picture in 1938 is looking West to East.

I expect to be driving from Hirtshals, Denmark to Hamburg Airport on Saturday, 4 October. Should I expect construction (or other) delays?

Here is a picture from a similar perspective that of 1938:

And for comparison, the one of 1938:

Note how the vegetation has became denser, so did the traffic .

Two "landscape videos" (?) from Ansbach's state, or Bavaria.

Exactly, from Upper Franconia...

and Upper Palatinate. (Don't confuse the Rhineland. )

One Baustelle by 99 km - good result.

I'm curious, they built that orange-red structure to narrow the pillars for 6 lanes ? How did they build that? (without whole thing falling down)
