Ok, I understand. It is much clearer now. So there will be no German A18?

True, I suppose many motorways in West Germany part are bit sub standard or with bad pavement.

Taken from Wikipedia:

Bottrop has the longest stretch of autobahn without junctions which is often used for testing vehicles at high speed, and is home to the famous Mercedes-Benz tuning company Brabus.

I assume they refer to the A31, but i am skeptical about the claim that Bottrop, or the A31, is home to the longest stretch of autobahn without junctions. Is this true?

I think it can be found on the A24 from Berlin to Hamburg. They have some sections with over 20km between exits. The A31 is a good road to test a vehicle.

But they didn't do it all there, right? I've seen many scenes with more natural motorways, like the A4 near Bergisch Gladbach, and the A45 somewhere in Sauerland.

edit: information in this post was already provided by ABRob.

Indeed, mostly NRW. Except the first episodes, which were shot in Brandenburg, all episodes were shot near Dusseldorf and Cologne (A44/A46). But more interesting is the fact they also use a 'Filmautobahn' by Düren:

Quote:
Groundbreaking for Europe’s largest Autobahn film set

International Film+Test Location (FTL) being built in
Aldenhoven, near Düren, Germany

Aldenhoven, 30 August 2005 – The Film+Test Location (FTL), Europe’s largest film set for high-speed car scenes, is being built near Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia. Beginning in November 2005, the facility will be available for hire for various uses, including national and international film productions.

A solidly built, authentic replica of a German Autobahn, the facility features access and exit ramps, hard shoulders, emergency stopping bays and a car park. It can quickly be made to resemble a typical motorway in any European country by equipping it with appropriate signage and road markings. There are two 1000-metrelong lanes in each direction, separated by a concrete barrier 81 centimetres high. Including the generous turning loops on both ends, the total length of the track is 2300 metres. With proper logistics, the track can be made to appear “endless”, so long scenes with extensive dialogue and oncoming traffic can be staged easily.
There are two backgrounds to choose from: a noise barrier or open fields.
action concept Film and Stunt Production GmbH, located in Hürth, is one of the companies that relies on the advantages the FTL offers in terms of scheduling and logistics. (...)

Now I know why the motorway in the series looks so well.

Had a little helicopter flight today and flew over the A43 / 474n intersection that was never finished for some reason.

My guess is because that it's a cloverleaf. They probably realised how dangerous things can get at a cloverleaf exchange they decided to discontinue with the plan. To my knowledge, German Autobahns normally do not have cloverleafs. I know British highways has around four, maybe less.

Here you have list of German interchanges. There are 236 cloverleaves (kleeblat=cloverleaf). and 172 of them are unmodified.
