After three years of construction the B68 bypass of Essen (Oldenburg) was opened today:

Does anybody is fed up with the A2 or A4? Luckily, there is an alternative A-route.

A few industrial views.

Low traffic volume like on the A20.

Harz Mountains on the right (slightly visible).

Several engineering facilities for variety.

I like A38. It is a good alternative from the Netherlands to the Czech Republic and southern Poland. There is far less traffic. The greater Hannover region is a hotspot for major accidents and delays.

More deaths, but less injured in road traffic

According to the Federal Statistical Office the number of accidents on German roads in the first half of 2015 is slightly lower than before.
However, 22 people more died compared to the previous period 2014.

If the motorway looks like this when an ambulance is coming...

This is how traffic must move away in order to let through an emergency vehicle.

Do they elaborate more on these deaths? What's different from the previous years?

I would say that making any statistical conclusions over two six-month periods only is pure bullshit. The delta of 22 fatalities is about 1% of the total death toll, and easily to be interpreted as a normal fluctuation.

When does the passenger car Autobahn toll "for foreigners" is due to be introduced in Germany and how much will it cost?
Will there be possibility to buy for short term as well, per ex. 1-day/week/month?

I think EU is acting against this, so it should not be implemented yet.

The road toll concept has been withdrawn when it became clear that the EU considers it to breaking EU law.
Originally, it should have been implemented on 01/01/2016.

Officially it is "postponed", but in reality, it is dead.

I wish German media (and media from any country whatsoever) thought this way too. In my country, every time there's a 1% fluctuation on road deaths newspapers are full of a sudden oh-God-everyone-is-going-to-die-if-they-don't-do-something-about-this paranoia.

Yep, and we Germans are very good at that.

Does anyone pleasantly remember mountains near Kassel? If so, this is something for him.

Following thumbnail can see that there is no boredom.

Slopes continues including epic Hattenbach uphill at the end.

A44 Bochum

Google Earth has new imagery of a large part of Nordrhein-Westfalen. It also shows the 'Opel Querspange' (A44) near Bochum.

Progress is very slow, initial works began in October 2011 and construction was reported to have begun in October 2012. So after 3 - 4 years of works, they managed to complete one underpass, still working on another and built 400 m of carriageway.
