A3 Dutch border - Leverkusen. Notice the trees in the median of the highway.

Is that from the NGC series? I thought I've seen this once.

However, I don't know what the fuss is about, Germany is not the only country who has this kind of technique.

Nice camera, indeed.
And the A720 seems to become poular for roadgeeking:
Frits (here Frits_NL) has one, the photographer of http://www.autobahn-bilder.de has one and another member of the german road-forum has also one.
I had a Fuji FinePix A330 until now, and I made around 60.000 roadpics with it. But I bought this cam in early 2005, so it is outdated in the meantime...

Me too, but in 2006:

(Number 003 (and 002))

Maybe I made a new one next time - in 640x480

I made another little tour (Serie 392):

Yesterday I shot with defined shutter speed, today with defined aperture.

If the weather outlook stays this good for the weekend, I might make a 2-day tour to Sauerland.

Planned route: A57-A42-A45-A46 (Goch - Duisburg - Dortmund - Hagen - Iserlohn - Olsberg)

Return route: A46-A44-A40 (Olsberg - Dortmund - Bochum - Essen - Duisburg - Venlo).

So it depends on the weather, because I want to make a hike at the Bruchhauser Steine.

I made these pics about 8 years ago on the A61 near Koblenz. An accident happened, and we were about one of the first ones on the scene. I was in a truck with a neighbor, on our way from Ludwigshafen to Amsterdam.

I scanned the pics, there weren't any affordable digital camera's back then.

1. A truck has hit a Peugeot 206, prompting the firemen to cut the roof off.

2. ADAC Lifeliner helicopter has landed on the Autobahn, with another helicopter circeling above the scene.

3. We stood for about an hour here.

Does anyone know how the shoulders on the Autobahn are marked? I know in some sections the shoulders can be converted into an extra lane when needed, but how are they marked when there is an exit/entrance ramp? Does the shoulder continue or does it become part of the "V-shaped" markings?

I posted an article on the U.S. Interstates thread about how a congressman wants a national speed limit for the U.S. similar to the 55 mph limit set in the 1970s. Can someone explain how higher/no speed limits ease congestion?

The problem I see with low speed limits in the Netherlands is that people are gonna drive very close to eachother at the same speed, so traffic coming from the onramp is having a hard time to merge.

Besides that, 55 mph (=88km/h) feels incredibly slow on a freeway, so people tend to take not enough distance, so accidents can happen more often.

If this have happened in Czech, the highway would stay blocked for 12 hours
