A20 in Schleswig-Holstein is another bad example. If you want, you can read this press release from Tuesday: http://www.schleswig-holstein.de/DE/...Deges_A20.html

Quote:
Für die übrigen 80 Kilometer bis zur Elbquerung – unterteilt in sechs Abschnitte – liegen inzwischen drei Planfeststellungsbeschlüsse vor, die aber allesamt beklagt sind.
The remaining planning activitives will be done by DEGES now because the Schleswig-Holstein road authority has failed... The new Schleswig-Holstein Minister of Transport has kicked them out...

There are two realistic procedures for cost and time calculation, giving pretty aligned results. Their power has been seen in the IT projects:

1) The scientific one: Request a bid from three vendors. Calculate sum of days and euros.

2) The quick one: Multiply initial estimates by pi.

What is in a newly completed road....?

i was just wondering what Germans expect from a new road? This in terms of design, smoothness of the surface, predicted life span before repairs etc. It would be interesting to hear how good(or not so good) new roads are in Germany. Thx.

According to the project site, the northbound carriageway will be opened in July and the southbound carriageway will be opened in September. I guess A61 will be closed afterwards (because of Garzweiler surface mine), maybe simultaneous with each A44 carriageway opening?

Ab 1.

Yep, it will be closed and demolished. The new A61 should be on a simliar alignment. Construction works will begin in 2035.

A26 Hafenquerspange Hamburg

The 'Hafenquerspange Hamburg' project is a planned Autobahn connection between A7 and A1 in the south of Hamburg (map). The 10km long A26 will connect the harbor to the Autobahn network and will contain long bridges and an artificial tunnel. The western extension of the A26 up to the planned A20 Elbe tunnel is u/c (the first section was opened in 2008).

http://www.hamburg.de/fernstrassen/a26-ost/

A time schedule (page 6) for the 3 planning and construction sections was presented on 12th October 2016.

Another presentation was on 12th December 2017. The artificial tunnel will be extended from 400 to 1,500m. All sections are delayed by about 1 year compared to 2016.

A49

http://hessenschau.de/wirtschaft/bun...hluss-100.html

The progress on the 11.8 km section from Neuental to Schwalmstadt is extremely slow, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in March 2011 and this section may not be opened until 2020.

A49 construction is cut up in three sub projects;

* VKE20 Neuental - Schwalmstadt: 11.8 km
* VKE30 Schwalmstadt - Stadtallendorf: 13.3 km
* VKE40 Stadtallendorf - A5: 17.5 km

Only VKE20 is currently under construction. The last section of A49 to open dates back to 1994.
The plan approval order of VKE40 segment was passed in May 2012 and 2 out of 3 appeals were rejected by the Federal Administrative Court in early 2013. The last appeal from an owner of a forest property was withdrawn now because the authorities pay a compensation. PPP tender procedure should be started "soon" (in 2018), construction works should begin in 2020. The last announced estimate completion date was 2025. The section u/c (VKE20) should be completed by late 2021.

The section will be opened together with the neighboring 9km section Sontra-West - Sontra-East which is not yet u/c. The estimated opening date is 2023.

The entire A44 might be completed by 2031 or so....

It's reported that the summer was too wet and works are delayed (compared to September 2017 announcement). The section is now announced to be opened in early 2018 (February?) source
To be opened in March 2018. Source. A plan supplement approval procedure for the neighboring section (which is already partially u/c) was started in 2015 (and announced in October 2016 to be passed in early 2017) and is now announced to be passed by late 2018. An updated time schedule will be published afterwards.

A395 from Braunschweig to Vienenburg will be renamed from A395 to A36. The former A395 from Vienenburg to Bad Harzburg (map), which was downgraded to B4/B6 in 2001 when the western-most section of B6n to Bernburg was opened, will be rededicated to A369. Source. I think the future A369 has a length of about 4.3km. The rededication is now announced to be implemented in 2019 at the earliest.
