I believe so. There are some other bad stretches that have to be redone (A8 near Rosenheim, for example), but they're not that old AFAIK.

By the way, does anyone have pics of the A19? I've never seen a discussion on this motorway in this thread (or I'm blind of course), it seems to be quite an "anonymous" motorway.

Even more than 70 years. This section was constructed in 1933-36 and opened to traffic on 27.09.1936.

I've never been on the A19. It's not a very logical route from the Netherlands.

Nah, the A31 didn't have a gas station for 250 kilometers until recently.

Ouch. Now I know where Germany is desolate. PS: 250 km would mean no gas stations in Slovenia.

Probably
There must be some off-motorway gas stations. 280 kms is an Alaskan situation

Heh.. Ireland is just as bad. They're building all the new motorways without a thought for service areas (all the bypassed towns kicked up a fuss). So they're only just planning them now, and the motorways will be done in 2 years. This is what we'll have in 2010.

I hope the NRA are hearing this, because come 2010, if those MSAs aren't ready, it's going to be a pretty bad situation...

Some pictures.

A map. Red dots are stations - Fuchsberg on A20 near Wismar and Buckowsee on A11 near Eberswalde. You may see, this 280 km is a liitle swindle, because no one (except SSC users?) drives that way.

A11 direction Szczecin. Buckowsee 8 km. Next station - 280 km.

Buckowsee 1000m, next station - again 280 km. This means, it's a distance between stations, not from this place to another.

A20 somewhere between Neubrandenburg and Pasewalk, direction Berlin/Szczecin. 101 km to Buckowsee.

There's a hope for dry tank. It's not an autoport near exit (BTW: autoports don't count as motorway stations), but station in Pasewalk.

A11, Kreuz Uckermark, end of exitramp from A20. Last 45 km to Buckowsee.

Thanks, pmaciej. Luckily there are some stations near the motorway, in the towns

I can't believe there's no gas station for 87 km on the A24 between Berlin and Hamburg. These are million cities. What's the AADT between them?

A24:

Peaking with 66.000 vehicles in Hamburg, it rapidly decreases to 35.000 near Zarrentin and even further to 22.000 near Putlitz. It jumps again after the A19 with 50.500 near Dreieck Havelland.

It's not much, but I think enough for some more gas stations.

There are 4 parking areas like this one "Brohmer Berge", which are projected service area - but the AADT is to low, so they can't find a concessionaire.

At the exits "Grevesmühlen", "Grimmen-Ost" and "Pasewalk-Nord" they signed gas stations, to push the distance between gas stations beneath 100km:

Grimmen-Ost, direction Berlin/Szczecin
65km to the gas station at exit "Pasewalk-Nord"

Grimmen-Ost, direction Hamburg
100km to gas station Fuchsberg

80km is the aspired distance between gas stations on German Autobahns.
So there will be definitely no further gas station.

It's usually 25 kilometers in the Netherlands, though traffic volumes are usually quite high in rural areas (except in NE Netherlands), so it's profitable to have many gas stations. The A28 between Zwolle and Amersfoort has 4 gas stations over 60 kilometers. That would make 5 if we count the 70 kilometers from the rest area near Zwolle-North.

The last time I drove on the A7 Groningen-Nieuweschans was in 2002. I remember seeing some deserted gas stations over there. Are they still there?
