Montabaur is really rural, ca. 30000 inhabitants in the "agglomeration". Atleast Limburg is a little bit bigger with ca. 75000 in the "agglomeration"

Next week I will be in Munich and the Bavarian Alps. The planning was to rent a car, but I hope that there won't be snow chaos. Does someone has pictures of the A95 from Munich towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen?

Ha, the Germans say 3.000 vehicles/day maximum on 2.75 m wide lanes. In the Netherlands there are such roads which handle up to 30.000 vehicles on such lane width.

If only the Germans were to design our roads. We had such an "opportunity" almost 70 years ago

It's incomplete:

RQ 29.5 is replaced by RQ 31
RQ 35.5 is replaced by RQ 36
RQ 43.5 (4+4 lanes) is missing

Everybody's going skiiing:

Quote:
A8 München Richtung Salzburg
Zwischen Kreuz München-Süd und Dreieck Inntal 45 km Stau
Quote:
A8 Stuttgart Richtung München
Zwischen As Kirchheim (Teck)-Ost und As Merklingen 25 km stockender Verkehr, Nebel, Sichtweiten unter 100 m
Quote:
A93 Rosenheim Richtung Kiefersfelden
Zwischen Dreieck Inntal und Grenzübergang Kiefersfelden 25 km stockender Verkehr
also the other direction:
Quote:
A93 Kiefersfelden Richtung Rosenheim
Zwischen Grenzübergang Kiefersfelden und Dreieck Inntal 25 km stockender Verkehr, Staugefahr
Quote:
A99 Autobahnring München: München-Nord Richtung München-Süd
Zwischen Kreuz München-Nord und As Ottobrunn 25 km Stau
In other words, coming from Stuttgart to Kufstein, you have to get through 120 kilometers of traffic jam.

Some pics from the destruction of the Autobahn bridge (A3) near Wuerzburg. A new bridge is planned because the autobahn is extended to 3 lanes each direction.

I suppose it's to make room for the new bridge.
