Good video. Heh, 4:52 is funny. But why's at 6:44 the speed limit just 60 km/h?

Anyone have a list of new German traffic fines for autobahn? Like speeding, tailgating etc.

It doesn't seem to be in a very healthy state, I'd say

OMG guys, do you need a second Roadside Rest Area thread or what?

Back on topic:

First of all, great video, ABRob, thumbs up!
I am surprised to see so many tunnels along such a short stretch of A71, quite a technological achievement!

There are some wind-problems with empty trucks on the Reichenbachtalbrücke.

Here are some information about ongoing projects in Germany:

For 2 projects the planning approval procedure has started recently:

1. The first part of the A14 Magdeburg - Schwerin, the 5km bypass of Colbitz 20km north of Magdeburg. You can find all the plans here: http://www.sachsen-anhalt.de/LPSA/in...d=33748#c85175

see also: http://www.sachsen-anhalt.de/LPSA/fi...nterlage-2.pdf

Overview:

-> http://www.sachsen-anhalt.de/LPSA/fi...nterlage-3.pdf

Because of some bats they have to build some wider or extra bridges, which are looking like this:

-> http://www.sachsen-anhalt.de/LPSA/fi...7-Blatt-04.pdf
A 20m wide area for the bats to cross the motorway...

2. The first section of the eastern part of the A100 in Berlin. It will go 3,2km northbound from the AD Neukölln. The estimated costs will be 442,8 million euro. The motorway will have 6 lanes + hard schoulders and most of it (2,3km) will be build as sunken road:

Directly east of the AD Neukölln will be build a 385m tunnel with 8-lanes:

Work sould start in 2011 and will be done in 2017.

More on the webpage of Berlin: http://www.stadtentwicklung.berlin.d...ba/index.shtml (currently offline)

-------------------

For 2 other projects the final road-trace has been decided:

1. The connection of the A33 with the A1 north of Osnabrück:

2. A motorway through the Hamburg harbour. In the last decades they have planned a motorway connection next to the Köhlbrandbrücke. But now they have decided to build this connection as an extension of the A26 to the A1:

red: new plannings

Work should start in 2012.

That A100 will be a great feat of engineering when completed. I drove on sections of it, it's very urban. Too bad some A10x numbers are decomissioned in the Berlin area. (I believe A105 and A103 or A104)

Indeed.
And the following second section will also be amazing. It includes a 1km double-deck tunnel which will look similar to this tunnel in Prague (images 28 - 35):

Mostly finished, the rest is under construction:

Only missing part ist the Hermsdorfer Kreuz, which will be redesigned from 2010 to 2013.

I'd love to see maps of where these routes were planned to go, there are many little spurs and 'ghost ends' along the A100 across the southern part of Berlin. Obviously plans, including going back to the pre-WWII days, were far more extensive than what was eventually built.
