I have a question. Why the section Osicky - Hradec Kralove costs yet 830,000,000,000 Kč? Can that be true or have they prescribed the amount?

it must be a mistake. 830 mln CZK looks more realistic.

Does the incremental reconstruction of the D1 between Prague and Brno only proceed during the warm weather months or does it proceed year-round? I may be driving the route in early October and I'm wondering what to expect. I last did it about two years ago when the road was in dreadful condition before the works started.

Depending on weather I would not expect that they would stop in October already. They will stop weeks before the first snow I would say.

In CZ we have two specific periods of maintenance. During winter period (1st November to 31st March) most of planned roadworks are being turned down to minimum to ensure free movement of 5m wide snow ploughs. The so called "modernisation" should be ended by the end of October on two sections, other two sectionts are expected to be on place until the mid November. However, October is the month of many many roadworks in CZ, so significant delays are to be expected.

Will the short existing stretch of the D3 motorway be extended north to the D1 in Prague and south to the Austrian border (future S10 to Linz)?

D3 is well prepared south of Veseli and České Budějovice bypass is proceeding quite good as well. There is also finally a decision about the future "category width" of the section to Austrian border.

The part between Tábor and Praha on the other hand is quite problematic, it is a subject of environmental dispute and the opposition against this project is quite big, so there is no good news on this ...

Not to mention the 9 ministers of transportation in 5 years.

What is up with that?

Tell it us who work for MofT or ŘSD, seriously - how is it even possible to work in such an unstable environment ... On the other hand, the last director had no other experience with roads and their managment than driving licence and he wasn't able to learn almost anything in these 4 months, so somehow it really is a positive step. But they don't have any candidate to replace him and no reasonable/sane person in this country want's to do that job :/

Would you think that they will at least finaly conduct proper tender for the possition?

Would you take it? 😉

What about that plan to transform the organisation into stock company?

Is the possition cursed because of the enormous pressure on sharing the money witht the "friends"?

To answer your questions:
1) I hope so - they say it - but my guess is that they will pick the person among related persons.
2) I'm sane and too young - no way
3) It's slowly ongoing - but no news on it in past few months.
4) cursed should be caused, I assume I think it is caused by the fact, that the old experts and specialists that would fit the position have a negative stigma and as I said before, there are no well qualified persons anymore that are willing to take these positions.

BTW you live in NL or CZ?

I am czech living in NL.

I meant cursed... that nobody wants to take it. I cant believe there is no one qualified. It is just that those qualified are not willing to take it or are not desired to take it. And my question was directed at what causes this. Is it low paycheck, or high pressure to behave corrupt, or anything else.

Ah, I get it now. I think it is caused mainly by the high pressure on the management, big legal responsibility (both as person who makes contracts and is obliged to maintain the huge property) and last but not least - the proffesional backbone of the Directorate has been partially destroyed as well, so sometimes you don't have the proffesionals to rely on among subordinates.

Finally, another part of a first class road I/44 opened for traffic today. It runs between Mohelnice (end of expressway R35) and state border with Poland near Mikulovice. This particular section is 2,9km long and bypasses villages Vlachov and Zvole. It is built as a 22,5m wide four-lane grade separated road. Hopefully, when more parts will be completed, it will be signed as an expressway R44 with a 130km/h speed limit. Total cost of this segment was around 1bln CZK.
Construction of the next section (Bludov bypass) should start in 2017.

This is just a wish of some people very far from reality.

Why do you think so? The two completed parts are built as R(S)22,5.
