Most of Poland on national roads are very high risk, and I know from personal experience that Czech drivers are nowhere near as insane as the Poles Honestly - as I'll be going in the middle of the night, it's not much of an issue. There are some hairpins, but I'll have to suffer them regardless of which route I choose.

Half an hour extra doesn't seem too terrible - you have to remember that 5-10 minutes are lost buying the vignette for CZ, so it means only a 20 minute differential, which is worth it for the sake of not living through the monotony of R46. I did once nearly crash on a junction on the R46, but that was related to not expecting an unbelievably sharp exit.

And if you think that I/52 doesn't resemble a road, then you shouldn't probably take the I/43 to Brno at all.
To be fair, on Google Street View, I/43 looks in far better condition than the mess that is the I/52. Last time I was on the I/52, I got stuck for half an hour because of some random huge craters on the road that had appeared

Having said this, I really can't complain now about the road between Bludov and Mohlenice. If only the CR could sort out the climb up to Cervena Voda...

As far as I know there are some more parts of D1, D2 and R35 being tendered.
What is the current status of reconstruction of the D1 between Prague and Brno?

Anyway, quick question - I'm so bored of I/44, R35 and R46 when going from the Polish border at Boboszów to Brno. Is the alternative route via Svitavy on the I/43 worth taking? I'm planning to go at night, so I'd rather take something different to avoid falling asleep from boredom.
I/43 between Červená Voda and Lanškroun is a rather twisty and narrow road, so not exactly the kind of road you want to drive on while going on a vacation. The rest of it is more or less a comfortable country road with many places to overtake especially at night when the traffic is very low.
Anyway, I/44, R35 and R46 is a safer and faster option.

Is there even anything remotely happening with the R52?

Planned projects: http://www.rsd.cz/Stavime-pro-vas/Stavby-planovane.

I think there are projects on the map which won't be built in the foreseeable future. R52 is not on the map at all.

R52 is not on the map because South Moravian region doesn't have its spacial planning master plan in order.

God knows when they will make it.

Tonight, our most vital intercity connection, D1 motorway between Prague and Brno will be completly closed again between kms 21 and 41 because of bridge demolition. The closure begins at 8 PM and is suppose to end at 10 AM in the morning:

Sitting on a Student Agency bus at the very moment I write this, taking a long detour because of this demolition. The traffic is unpleasant, but it could be far worse.

D1

Today, 14.7.2015, the construction of the D1 Přerov – Lipník nad Bečvou (length: 14 312 m) has been started. It should be finished in 07/2018.

This is the missing link, right?

I still don't know why money is being spent on this section when 18km elsewhere would have far more benefit. Going via Olomouc really isn't a big deal

Not exactly. There is still missing a part of D1 Říkovice – Přerov (length: 7970 m). It is still not known when the construction starts. Until this last section is completed it is non sense to use D1 from Vyškov to Lipník nad Bečvou and is better to go through Olomouc. The traffic in Přerov is already horrible!

That would've been a detour to Zlín (district population: 200,000).
