I should have mentioned one fact useful for foreign drivers.
As you can see, all existing stretches at border crossings are due to fee as well. So there is an exemption regarding those at-border stretches on D5 and D2, so that you can buy your sticker at the first rest area (former border crossings Rozvadov and Lanžhot). When entering CZ on D8, don't forget to buy the sticker at former crossing near Breitenau on A17.

How about R48 Cesky Tesin - Mistek? Wasn't it toll-free?

Yes, it was sticker-free (but not toll-free for trucks). From 2009 on you also have to buy a sticker for R48 and R56. This region will be well "equipped" with D1, R48 and R56 within few years, so this step was only a matter of time...

Český Těšín bypass is still sticker-free...

So I'd have to buy in somewhere on the border. If you happen to know where exactly I'd be very grateful

BTW When does the mising part of D1 (Belotin - Ostrava) open and are there any pics from D1 Bohumin - PL border?

You can buy an OBU unit for el.toll at the border and you should be able to buy a sticker here:

I/48 E462 Chotěbuz/Cieszyn - hranice - spedice směr CZ 24/7 CP Service (map 1, map2)

Hm, we asked that some time ago, RSD has no schedule on that, the only fact we got is, that this section (bridge and short sections around) has been built as half-profile of future expressway. I see that you don't have any idea in Poland too, that's a pity

The only thing I know is that they repaved this viaduct recently and put yellow double continious lane(so Polish style) on it(and made 1x2 insdead for 1x3), as if they were to do sth more about it in nearest future.

Yeah, its logical, the main reason for 1x3 there was to allow overtaking of long queues of trucks there... Good to see the new pavement there!! Last time I passed it, the pavement was really horrible...

On most maps this bridge exists as 2X2

Once I saw a map of CZ with some more road projects like a motorway/expressway Liberec - Usti - Karlovy Vary or an extension of the R4 until the German border.

Are these official (long-term) plans or were these the dreams of someone?

This must have been some unoficiall drawing... These projects were never proposed as motorways, maybe as two-laned expressway, that's possible.

But if you take it in detail, R4 has no chance to be extended to German border because of National park Šumava (and Landschaftschutzgebiet as well ) But itš being upgraded to modern first class road standards, because some stretches are really bad nowadays...

The section Liberec - Usti is also a big environmental issue, because it goes along or through some Nature Protected Areas (equivalent to german LSGs). Though, the I/13 - E442 Usti - Karlovy Vary will be 4laned almost all the way, but not as an expressway, but I hope some day we'll change that

That highway from Brno to Praha is very bad. Some panels and your car going up and down...

What are plans for D1 in Ostrava and to Polish border (when it is finished)?
Is it going to be considered as interurban freeway and free?
In Poland stretches of motorways around big cities will be free to relive local roads inside those cities. Is situation the same in Czechia?
