R1 Prague ring road - update

Diversions at D1×R1 interchange:

Vysočanská radiála MÚK Kbelská – BIOMOST SO 207 18.4.2010

Plynovod podél Vysočanské radiály je položeno ve výkopu a je připraveno k zahrnutí. skoro v celé délce mezi SO 206 a SO 207 je položena kanalizace s vyjímkou asi 200 m kde je překop pro plynovod a kde je nutno odtěžit zbývající zeminu tak aby došlo k faktickému propojení VR v celé délce. V překopu přes Vysočanskou radiálu je uloženo potrubí.

Do you have any idea why no-one ever replies to your posts? Because you write them all in Czech, which few non-Czechs can read. For example, I have no idea what your links are linking to, and I doubt if people will click on it that way. It could've been spam as well to them...

I know that the southern part of R1 is built just 2+2, but can it be easily upgraded to 3+3?

One of the biggest mistakes in czech motorway plans... unfortunately no, it can't be easily upgraded... But good news is, that all other new parts will be built at least as 3+3, some short stretches as 4+4...

That's too bad. Maybe they could introduce shoulder running in a worst-case scenario.

I think the most importan task in CZ is to finish the Praha motorway ring and to reconstruct the D1 and D2 between Praha and CZ/SK border...

New models show AADT of 50-70,000 on the southern part in 2040, so it's not that bad. Prague has already its Inner Ring Road in that quadrant so there are two high-capacity free-flow roads, but without northern parts of the R1 ring, the situation would by really bad...

Perhaps it's noteworthy the most hard-to-widen bridge-tunnel-bridge-tunnel part is built as 2+3 (3 lanes on the climbing carriageway) and emergency lanes are wide enough to accomodate an extra traffic lane if needed. The descending tubes of both major tunnels (1,75+2 km long) are an unconvenient bottleneck as there the emergency lane is reduced to some 1,75 m.

the question is if the tunnel is also high enough to accomodate trucks on what is now the shoulder.

As I said the problem is the descending tubes are not even wide enough to accomodate the 3rd lane and that's a pity because not much was required (less than 2 extra m of downward tunnel tubes' width) to make the whole section easily upgradable to 3+3.

Yes, that sounds reasonable. Unfortunately, D1 is not going to be widened between Mirošovice and Kývalka (cca 160km) in the next 10-15 years. So I would say that the northern route R35 between Hradec Králové and Mohelnice should receive more attention. Also the missing part of D8 should be finished as soon as possible.

Vestecká spojka is in plans, but likely in mid-term, it will be important connection as soon as D3 is built (to relieve the R1 ring and enable easier access to D1). It is planned as ordinary two-lane road with roundabouts and future possibbility of upgrade to 2+2.

As for the MO, to say some date, it would be just a rough guess, no one knows know. My expectation is 2016 as start.

Městský okruh Praha Prašný most – Hradčanská 19.4.2010
V prostoru Prašného mostu se jezdí po provizorní komunikaci a ve stavební jámě se odtěžuje zemina . Pod hradbami se provádí injektáž budoucího portálu silníčního tunelu. V prostoru stanice metra Hradčanská konečnou podobu dostává budoucí vestibul včetně výstupu k zastávkám tramvají.
