This is ridiculous. Last five posts in this thread before you post are just Stir's spam. He even doesn't bother to translate the short text. He post the same post in this thread, in thread about Czech Motorways in Polish section and in two threads in Czech Forum. This guy pretty much annoys me.

The worst of all is... there are photos and updates when you follow that link! But given this way of presenting them, they become worthless. Just how attractive is a link like that, which looks like a viagra spambot attack. As if a 13-year old was posting it. No really, it reminds me of the rubbish I was posting in some Czech forums when I was 13.

Floods in Czech Republic: Moravskoslezsky region

The D1 motorway (Ostrava-Bohumin) was closed today due to the flooding. This picture is from today around 10 am.

The location is the exit Vrbice, before the bridge over Odra.

Roundabout is to the right. The road from Ostrava to Bohumin is opened but water almost reaches it.
http://maps.google.nl/maps?f=q&sourc...19355&t=h&z=16

The whole section was build after the terrible floods in 1997 and should have been meant as aditional barrier.

It breaks my heart to see my home village so close to a disaster...

Floods, update. Construction of D1 Bohumin - Poland under water.

Aerial video showing the floods dimensions around Ostrava on Czech news web page. Go to the czech video, fastforward to 0:49 to see the D1 last section towards Polish borders.

Apparently they did not close the motorway yet as I can clearly see a truck amidst the waters.

http://www.novinky.cz/domaci/200422-...ostravska.html

The D1 exit Bohumin. This is the present end of D1, it merges on the I58 which goes towards the borders with Poland. The map:
http://www.mapy.cz/#[email protected][email protected][email protected]=14

The roundabout on this picture is not yet on the map and is part of the last section that is being under construction. The straigth line is the railway line from Bohumin towards Poland. The shape of motorway is clearly seen. The direction of the video's movement is towars Poland and the new section under construction.

Yeah the motorways is still open, on the current end of the motorway, where the threat of flooding occured, a temporary soil-wall was built, that protects the only section under the Q100 niveau (100-year flood niveau).

It seems that the motorway bridge over the Vrbice lake and Odra there is the only bottleneck for the water. Would you know how much is left under the bridge to the water? BTW what was your infosource for the temporary soil wall? I would be interested. Thanks.

It can be seen on the video you posted and I watched it live on motorway camera: http://www.ceskedalnice.cz/pro-ridic...bohumin#cam416 - to second last one... it is offline at this moment...

And on this picture you can see it as well, but not completed yet, they filled the hole on the pictures, it was planned there:

Btw we discussed it in czech here: http://forum.ceskedalnice.cz/viewtop...=1183&start=25

The D1 is now almost closed between Ostrava and Bohumin. The ramps are closed. Also local communication from Ostrava to Bohumin is closed due to the flooding.

Local traffic info: http://www.dopravniinfo.cz/default.a...ohum%C3%ADn%3B

How is the road surface on D1 between Praha and Brno? I drove there last year and remember it as very bumpy, any plans for new asphalt/concrete?

These bumpy sections on D1 between km 21 and 199 will be reconstructed from now to 2014

D1 Ostrava - Bohumin, flooding update

Here goes another aerial video from czech news. You can see the situation on the exit Vrbice at 0:10. The whole exit is closed. At around 0:20 comes the exit Bohumin. Current end of the motorway D1, direction Poland. Considerable part of video is devoted to the last meters of D1, where it merges on I58.
Follow the link for the video: http://video.idnes.cz/?idvideo=V1005..._tv-zpravy_sha

The motorway stayed opened and provided the only connection between Ostrava and Bohumin.

Water is now dropping.

The whole reconstruction of the D1 (unfortunately no widening to 3+3) will be completed in 2020.

It could have been done faster, but there was no money. And the priority right now is to build the new motorways as soon as possible, leaving less money for road reconstruction. D1 needs it, but there are also lots of main roads and local roads which are even more devastated.

No you don't. It is not a motorway or expressway, so cars don't have to have a vignette there. I think that you can even use the bypass of Český Těšín (R48) and exit on the I/11 at exit Žukov, so that you don't have to drive through Český Těšín. That bypass is also toll-free
