Are there that many animals so close to the city? I mean, 7 ecoducts seem to much so close to a large city like Prague. I knew that usually they are required just in rural areas.

Around cities usually lives many deers ect. and they can be quite dangerous when you are doing 100 km/h or more.

Actually, some of those ecoducts were disputed and they really seem (seem ) to be unnecessary, esp. those three near Cholupice. But take into account that they serve not only for animals but for agricultular machines, horses, cyclists, two of them also have streams on the top, etc etc...

The 515 reconstruction part is 6,85 km long and worth 1,5 mld CZK.

Well to me it still looks too expensive but that would be for different debate. I'm most dissapointed its not 3+3 on all sections. I know it will be sufficient for now but in 20 years it could looks different, after all it joins D1 (most loaded motorway section in CZ), D5, R4 and future D3 (probably if not Promika variant...) and it's main and the only outer circle, so...

Pictures taken yesterday at the "Day of opened doors" (actually it was kind of a "day of almost closed doors" because of terrible organization and senseless restrictions - it led to an unorganized happening on almost all 23 kms of new route):

Yeah, this might be a big problem in a near future... At least there is this "linear traffic management" (I can't remember the correct english term, help me out please )

are the tunnels 2x3? did they at least leave space for the 3rd lane?

budapest will face the same problem on the western section: ~something like 2/3rds of the alignment will go in tunnels or over viaducts and i think they will skimp on the 3rd lane

when do you think the rest of the ringroad will be built?

Tunnels are 3+2, 3 lanes upwards (climbing lane).
Unfortunately, there is no reserve on this new stretch, but positive info is that all other new sections will be built as 3+3. Next should be section 511 Modletice (D1) - Běchovice (D11), construction start in 2012 and finished in 2014/5.

I've heard on the new video from today there is reserve for 3+3 at section 512 - between D1 and future D3.
Of course, tunnels are done, it will be 2+3 forever, flyover bridge too.

The reserve is just between the planned D3 interchange and exit Vestec (reserve for 4+4), Vestecký přivaděč (feeder) is connected at exit Vestec and this feeder should be connected to km 4 of D1 in mid-term future (2020 maybe).

Thanks for info. So in future Vestecky feeder could be alternative to this ring road between D1 and D3.

First section of this Prague ring - 515 (7,2 km) - was opened on 20th September 1983 - so exactly after 27 years this continuous part from D1 to R7 have 36,1 km.

Interesting video comparing the "old" route from D1 to D5 through "Jizni Spojka" and "Barandovský most" with the newly opened souther passage of Prague's bypass.

First video on the page, skip advert after few seconds, after the lady makes her speach the interesting video starts.

Google updated the satellite in some parts of CZ. Here is the clearly visible D1 - A1 motorway construction site at the Czech - Polish border nearby Bohumin.

Nice...

The trucks over 12 tonnes are forbidden to enter the "Jizni spojka" and "K Barandovu" (the markposts) since the opening:

, thus the rush hours should be less rush there. However, they will become more rush at the start of with D1. Especially the "Sporilovská" between the numbers 29 and 1 on the picture should get congested. This will be only helped by future construction of section 511 of the ring.
