Hi, I'm the one who got the 1941 Map of Central Europe. I am convinced you can see grading and remnants of the section near Lieberec just southeast of the village of Pekařka and continuing for a while. There are a few sections in the trees and fields that look similar to other unfinished sections elsewhere. Perhaps it is just my imagination.

There is another section of reichsautobahn north of Brno that was easy to find by aerials, do you know if any photos of this section exist online?

Thanks for your help, it was very difficult to scan the map but so far it has proven very interesting.

I don't have any information about construction near Pekařka, but maybe we simply don't have enough information.

History of motorway construction on the czech soil is described in detail on our webpage http://www.motorway.cz/history.

Worth to mention are also books, issued by the Road and Motorway Directorate in last few years. Only one of them is in english as well but the others are filled with pictures and might be very interesting too:
1) Stavby, kterým doba nepřála - about 1930's a 1940's constructions
2) 70 years of motorways in photography (with english comments)
3) Německá průchozí dálnice, 1. díl - about RAB 88 Breslau - Wien, northern exteritorial section (Jevíčko - Černá Hora)
4) Německá průchozí dálnice, 2. díl - about RAB 88 Breslau - Wien, southern exteritorial section (Černá Hora - Syrovice)

The site http://www.dalnice.com/ has very extensive historical section, including interactive maps with links to photos of RAB 88.

But for the Sudetenautobahn, there's much less info there: http://www.dalnice.com/historie/plan..._dal_v_csr.htm

The site is only in czech, but google translate seems to do a fine job here...

Yes, it is. Královopolský tunel with connecting roads is under construction, but also under a permanent threat of another administrative lawsuit. Albeit this threat may cause some delays, it is predicted to put the tunnel into operation in 2012. Visuals can be found on http://www.mestsky-okruh-brno.cz/useky-vmo-brno

Serious accident happend this morning on D5. A truck with acetylene crashed after having flat tire just after tunnel Valik nearby Plzen. The truck went on fire and shortly after some cylinders with acetylene started to explode.





Luckily no one was injured and the site is now under control.

There's been opened the first electricity recharging point on the motorway D1 between Prague and Brno at current Agip petrol station.

Dont know about B&B but guess that it works around there. But they chose this particular gas station because of the grilled food you could order if you decide to get your car recharged, on average in around 1,5 hour. Funny is there is around 200 EVs in CZ and around 160 charging points, almost more points than cars. They plan to open 6 more on the main travel routes till July.

32A.. nice. So, assuming driving an average EV, I can get 100 km per single charge on a motorway. Then, I need to spend 1 1/2h charging. Astonishing! I can make 100 km in 2 1/2h! So my weekly Prague - Ostrava commute will require 4 charging cycles ~ 6hs + 3 1/2hs driving, total 9 1/2hs.

I will keep my TDI.

Can you guys give a status update about D8 Lovosice - Řehlovice? Is it entirely U/C? Or only sections? When is it supposed to open? D8 seems to become some kind of a soap...

Zoning decision was revoked last year at Supreme Administrative Court, so one third of this section doesn't have neither zoning nor building permit. Don't expect it to be finished before 2013. Where building permits were already issued, constrution continues....

Pretty much as you wrote... A single part from exit Lovosice to exit Bilinka shall be ready for opening at the end of this year, but it has no significant importance, serving just as bypass of Vchynice village....

It seems that problem with the re-alignement of pipeline blocking the construction seems to be solved, so it might be opened till the end of this year. Works on the interchange with R1 ring road have already made it to another stage/phase.

The bridge in Troja - Prague that is due to be build as broader part of the Blanka tunnel system construction in Prague is getting more real.
