Neverending story with Eurovia continues. Eurovia sued RSD for 4 million euro of compensation. Eurovia claims that RSD damaged the good name of Eurovia and claims the damage on goodwill. These guys are really shameless.

So D1 motorway is E462, like we said lately Meanwhile in Poland near country border we have signs with E75 numbering

As far as I know E75 runs through Bialsko-Biala, Czesin/Tesin (S1.pl) and then via I11.cz to Žilina in Slovakia and then further south to Bratislava and if there are any intentions to change it, then it's to transfer E75 directly to S69.pl/D3.sk after their completion.

Perhaps sometime in the past before S69.pl and D3.sk were planned, E75 was indeed planned to go via Ostrava and Brno, but I don't think it's a case anymore.

Nonetheless with A1.pl/D1.cz completion the fastest way from Katowice to Bratislava is indeed via Brno. But I don't think Slovaks would allow to have their E75 leg stolen by Czechs

---

Btw the E462 designation of D1 is quite dubious too. If Poles one day build a direct expressway between Bielsko and Krakow, then it would be logical to put E462 back on R48.cz. D1 then would be stripped of any E number in spite of being such an important transit route. Quite a paradox.

Good news. The last 13 km section of D8 Lovosice – Řehlovice on the Praha - Dresden route can be under construction again as of 5 may.

Map:

The territory Ústecký kraj rejected the appeal of one of the green activist against the new teritorial decission and construction permit that was issued this year. It can be expected that the ecologist will start a court process against it again, but the decission becomes active irrespective of whether they will do it. The appeal to the court doesnt have suspensive effect in this case.

To finish the currently stopped construction will take at least 2 years from now.

That's good news indeed. So we're looking at an opening of D8 in mid-2014?

I would be still very carefull setting any date here, but yes thats the most probable date. As I realize they say around 30 months. Thus closer to the 2014/2015.

Instead of court processing, the green activist should better use handcuffs and a tree ...

i want to travel from Dresden to Brno this summer and i have some questions for some updated guys.

When i take the D8 for Prague, both my GPS (not up to date) and google maps wants to take me through Rtyné nad Bilinou-Zalany-Bilinka-Lovosice and Prague.

But there is also another way to take the E442 and turn back to E55 through Kozliky-Velvety-Zalany-Bilinka.

Route nr 2 has a longer distance on country roads, but is it better ?

My other question is wether there is a ring road that links D8 with D1 ? It is so annoying with all these traffic lights !!

Lastly when does the D1 modernization begins ? and will it affect the traffic this summer ?

Thanks in advance

The first second route is only marginally longer, but much more comfortable because the local country roads in the first route are quite narrow and its all in bit hilly terrain. Depends on your propensity to adventure.

For the almost traffic lights free route throurh Praha between D8 and D1 I would chose this one: http://www.mapy.cz/s/3Jvb

The modernization of D1 should commence in july in some places so it is possible it will affect D1 traffic.

thanks a lot.. i think there is also less traffic on these country roads.. not so many people know that way and take the usual bystrany roundabout.

Do anybody know which exit it is to take the Rtyne nad Bilinou road ?

As far as i know vysocanska radial is not open yet. So i dont think it is possible to exit E55 while approaching Prague. Is it true that i can take that ring road ?

usually I have taken the road through kbelska-prumyslova and finally sterboholska spojka. this is also the route that Google map prefers..

Shit. As I read it now again. I gave you completaly opposite advice. I apologise, this should not happen to me!!!

It should be:

The second route is only marginally longer, but much more comfortable.... The route through Bystrany (roundabout) is longer but more comfy. In time it would be around the same.

Vysocanska radiala is opened already some time. When I drove there last time I took also Kbelska-Prumyslova, but the Vysocanska radiala was then not opened yet and I thought you dont want to have the traffic lights. Then I would probably try the Vysocanska radiala, though it would be longer.

yes of course..

But since everybody takes the bystrany roundabout, there will be a lot of traffiv there. Not to mention the trucks when the 1x1 road begins !!! that takes a lot of energy...

I travelled through Ostrava to Gliwice (Poland) and had some difficulties (as did other drivers), because there is some highway missing on the border area. When will the motorway through border be opened and what route you recomend in the meantime? Thanks!

You have to ask on the polish forum when will the motorway open as their are quite some problems with finishing construction of a motorway bridge. The motorway is finished on the czech side. They set the date somewhere in the summer for now.

The current detour is that you have to exit D1 in Bohumin, take I78 direction PL and cross the border. THe roads continues as polish DK78, in Wodzislaw Slaski you change to side road in direction Swierklany and Zory. In Swierklany you join polish D1 and continue to Gliwice.

Btw what route did you take, if you had difficulties?
