Drivers may not obey the "two stripes" rule, but driving with a distance shorter than one stripe will earn you a ticket -so it's definitely helpful.

In Spain we've had several instructions for side lane markings; some motorways have dashed ones, some others don't, so most people don't mind them. Most tunnels, though, have unreal safety distance rules -I know of two 2x3 tunnels that carry 100,000+ vehicles a day and have signs mandating a 100 m distance between vehicles, which is just impossible for that throughput.

péage de Saint-Arnoult

It is said to be the biggest toll plaza in Europe. The Saint-Arnoult toll plaza on A10 just outside Paris. It has 39 lanes.

with 39 yes.
but i think that once i found in Spain with more than 40 lanes. i have checked Granollers at AP7 right now, but it has 36 lanes. however, i think it has been refurbished, and that it had some additional lanes (not in the same line tough) that ahve been removed, and i think it is the largest one in Spain.

That one was expanded a few years ago. I drove through it two weeks ago, it is not as impressive. The exits to A-2 have separate toll plazas as well.

The Lançon and Eprunes toll plazas (A7 and A5) are huge as well.

Lançon is impressive indeed.

D6015, Rouen

There is a series of low clearance tunnels (2.7 m and even 1.8 m) along D6015 along the Seine in Rouen. Apparently it's a tourist vacation killer. Thank you GPS!

Duplex A86

There is a 10 kilometer long single tube, double deck tunnel in the western suburbs of Paris. The clearance in the tunnel is only 2 meters. I recorded it earlier this month.

A75 La Méridienne

Some photos of the northern half of A75, which I took in late May.

A75-3 by European Roads, on Flickr

Montpellier is the control city for the next three hours.

A75-4 by European Roads, on Flickr

The old route to Bordeaux.

A75-8 by European Roads, on Flickr

Signs you'd expect in the Alps. This area can get quite a lot of snow in the winter.

A75-17 by European Roads, on Flickr

A curvy stretch through a shallow canyon. I got fined for doing 95 in a 90 zone (of course the speed camera was on a straight section).

A75-25 by European Roads, on Flickr

The first 50 kilometers of A75 have a very high exit density. This is exit 17, less than 40 km from the start of A75.

A75-40 by European Roads, on Flickr

Exit to Le Puy. This is where the expressway ended for quite some time until the early 1990s.

A75-49 by European Roads, on Flickr

A75-52 by European Roads, on Flickr

Exit to Aurillac. Most cities on the distance signs are actually located quite far off A75. A75 goes straight through the middle, only Millau is really close to A75. Rodez, Le Puy, Mende, Rodez, Aurillac & Montpellier are all located far off the motorway.

Col de la Fageole at 1107 m.

A75-66 by European Roads, on Flickr

Viaduc de Garabit from a rest area.

A75-78 by European Roads, on Flickr

A75-89 by European Roads, on Flickr

This looks more Scandinavian than typical Southern France.

A75-102 by European Roads, on Flickr

They built a large viaduct to connect N88 to A75 a couple of years ago.
