It's quite normal because more than 60,000 frenchs work in Geneva and the Lausanne destination is also the way to east regions of France like Alsace.

I like the motorways, they look very clean and shiny, and they use metalbarriers, so much better then concrete.

They probably sign three foreign destinations because there is nothing else to sign.

They could sign Saint-Julien-en-Genevois.

This motorway was built for border workers. They don't care about St Julien or Annemasse...

OT: "Top Gear" episode in France

Hello Everybody!

First of all for OT:

I`ve got one simply (or difficult ) question, anybody knows where (which part of France) was made a one of "Top Gear" episode when Jeremy Clarkson was testing red Audi A4/S4 or RS4? It was in mountain - beautiful views - but I have no idea where. I hope there are Top Gear fans on this forum

Yes.
Built by Bouygues Construction, the section is 19 kms long and a "double tube" tunnel has been digged under the Mont Sion. You can also find 4 viaducts and a covered trench of 300 meters.

Sorry, I badly explain. 19 kms is the length of the new section of the motorway. The tunnel is only 3 kms long.

What's weird about those? I guess this one operates with an open toll system with one central toll plaza, and a few minor toll plazas at exits.

yes, definitely, but i find them weird because they are too close to motorway exit/entrance and they seem to be kinda unfinnished. they look more like they have only electronic methods of payment

They are. These exits have no booth. They only can be used with an electronic pass for people living closed to the area and work in Switzerland. You can see there is only one enter and only one exit for this toll.

But what if you're not living in the area and felt like getting off there (hmm, that sounds strange...)? Do the cops start to chase you?

...or automated cash payment...

its a pure fun: you gather the change from your wallet and with a nice armswing get it into the cash-basket...

french motorways are really expensive, but this payment method compensates...
