The one at Au******e is classier than the one in S****c, although my mom shops at the one in S****c because she says it's cheaper.

T'as fait ça trop facile....

Edit (it's indeed an English thread):

More than half of it: From V*****n to S******c !

I apologize: I thought that discussion in the national threads could be in English OR in the national language.

Edited to add: English of a sort, at any rate. :-P

'Cause almost all French autoroutes have names (official names ), and they are well known, such as: "L'autoroute d'entre-deux-mers/Autoroute des Deux Mers, Autoroute du Nord, Autoroute de l'Est, la Provençale, la Languedocienne, Autoroute du Sud/Autoroute du Soleil, Autoroute de l'Ouest/Autoroute de Normandie, Autoroute de la Maurienne, la Francilienne, Autoroute du Piémont des Vosges, l'Alpine, l'Occitane etc etc etc
I am fully aware that autoroutes were given "official" names, hence the fact that I specified I never heard those in the mouth of their users, if you read my post correctly.

Guys come on, and be honest, have you ever heard someone refering to an Autoroute by something else than its number?

Ask your colleagues if they take l'Autoroute du Soleil (in US English, "Sun Highway" ) when commuting to their grey shabby suburb of Evry, or A6...

If someone ask you the direction to Bordeaux, will you advise him to take l'Aquitaine (which will be very helpful to him ) or A10?

That's great! Still.. now I really wish they build a new expressway to avoid driving through Verneuil-sur-Avre, Dreux and a series of villages on N12...!

I was looking at maps last night.... I believe I've read that the piece of the Francilienne that runs north and east of DeGaulle is opening this year (or has it happened already?) Does anyone - not brisavoine, presumably! - know what will happen, numbering-wise, to the section of the A104 that will thus be cut off - from the A1/A3/N170 junction to the N2, then the section where it runs alongside the N2?

I've been on the eastern and southern N104. It wasn't a pleasant drive, narrow, only 2x2 lanes and A LOT of truck traffic.

True, very narrow ring road, although I believe it's being / has been widened to 2x3 and 2x4 for most of its length. Anyone to confirm this ?

not realy, the part beetwen A6 and exit 29 at Corbeil Essonne has opened last summer to 2x3; the section from exit 29 to exit 28 is being upgraded to 2x3, i don't know when it will be finished but probably not before 2012 cause the works have just started in may

so for the moment the sections beetwen A6 and A5, A4 and RN4 are planed to be widened to 2x3 but no news for the rest of the ring
