I hope they will locked up for good. I don't want them to come back on the street.

It takes four years and counting, plus MILLIONS of dollars even to bring surely guilty murderers to trial in this town, so I don't look for the system to pay much attention to these guys. No money in it. Arrests make the headlines, then it's back to business as usual, for everybody. It's almost enough to make me cynical.

The millions you are talking about for that mass killing is because the prosecutor has asked for the death penaltty. This is my number one reason I am against the death penalty. Financial. With our court appeals processes in capital murder cases, it will always be in the millions of dollars and nobody will be executed within a decade. So why bother? People say 'closure' for the victims families, but the case will be going on for such a long time, it will just be a festering wound for them.

And regarding the drug arrests, my understanding is that only one of the arrested had significant amounts of cash or drugs on their person. We have finite jail resources, and our politicians are determined to have even fewer resources, so what is the judicial system to do? Our unwillingness to adequately fund our essential services have consequences.

We just need to make the death penalty cheaper.

My suggestion is to hire out 'splinter-cell' type mercs that will off the offending murderer and disappear.

What drug were they dealing? 420? They should come to my apartment building and get those university students and young professionals doing it.

Running the tab up into the millions is the number one tactic of organized death penalty opponents. It will work eventually.

There are some sick puppies that need to be put to sleep... But we could learn a thing or two from Norway about how to handle criminal offenses.... And US prohibition as well...

No. It's inherently expensive, if we don't want to kill off innocent people.

Uhh... anyone know what the hell is going on in Fremont? Came home to cops all over the place, some walking thru my building in SWAT gear or carrying large guns... Franticly searching SPD twitter, Fremont Blog, King 5, Reddit, etc. Even asked an actual person or two (scary experience). So far nothing...

I need a hug...

I think they had zombie record-breaking gathering today unless someone actually chew someone's face like it happened in Miami a while ago.

If the fire dept was involved at all, try this for the most recent 911 calls, this for the older stuff. Of course, that won't work for police-initiated action since nobody called 911. Man there are a lot of 911 calls every day.

Hey look, this is a good site. Again, it looks like it's 911 related though.

With the Times now a regional paper, and most of the Seattle news sources out of business, you're pretty much left with the TV news (good luck with that), Slog, and local blogs. Looks like Fremont's blog is the few-stories-a-week type, so you're kind of stuck.

A Friday night face-chewing in Fremont. Look what our formerly safe little city has come to!

Not a face chewing, but not far from it. Turns out it was IN my building. Story I got was: Guy got really drunk and trashed his apartment. Fight started with his neighbors when they came by to see what the ruckus was. Somehow the guy ended up naked in the middle of all of this. Took 10 cop cars and a SWAT team to subdue him?

Yike! Are you sure he was just drunk? That sounded like he could got high from bath salts. I read that bath salts often affects people to become very violent and get naked immediately(just to cool down due to increased body temperature). When people are high on bath salts often have hard time to control themselves from getting out of control violent. That might why it took numerous of people just to subdue him.

I never heard of it before until around last year ago when I read about some states are considering to ban stores to sell bath salts. Here is some more information about bath salts:

I know "north" and "south" Seattle are referred to all the time and that's fine but especially since I've moved to south Seattle I'm noticing the generic term doesn't cut it when most of the shootings seem to be in Rainier Beach. Let's just say Rainier Beach at least in the text of the stories if not in the headlines. This morning's event:

SPD Blotter: Six people shot at large house party in South Seattle

KOMO: 6 injured as gunfire erupts at S. Seattle house party

Normalized by population and employment (to approximate street density), that area has by far the highest crime in the city. http://seattletransitblog.com/2012/0...owntown-crime/ Also, a high violent to non-violent crime ratio.

So what do we do about the area? More cops? Try to gentrify? Dis-annexation?
