Yes, if you coming from Trafford Park its the Right hand/3rd Exit on that roundabout.

I have a feeling that if the road gets quite a bit of traffic, going from MC to Eccles, then a few drivers coming over Cenetenary Bridge are going to get a suprise, regular users of that road treat that roundabout (and the one next to West One)as if its not there, so little traffic comes from the right. I cross Centenary way near there and I take my life in my hands sometimes...

I recall an earlier post regarding a 'major botched plumbing job' at one or some of the mediacity buildings. Did that report have any legs, or was it a bit of mischief?

Okay, these photos are up to Marky's and Wingtips standard, but still I hope give good insight in to the ongoing development:

The first three shots show the curved frontage to the development which will form a crescent on to Media City Sqaure:

This is from a rarely displayed angle showing the scale and bulk of the development:

Nice pics G. That last one is interesting. Not seen that shot/angle posted before. One question. (don't expect you to write an essay)

How does Mediacity feel and look like close up? Does Mediacity have a big feel about it, do the buildings look good and are they finished to a high standard.(if you can tell?) I'll have to take a closer look when time allows.

I should have known.

If only it was as big as your debt. Hopefully with the addition of the 3 other residential towers and the other planned buildings, it will be. Off fishing now.

BACK TO TOPIC.

It won't be bigger than our proposed leisure destination and the amount of 'money' that will bring in for the club.

Ping pong anyone.

Yes there is a bridge over the railway tracks, here is the planning application for the new link road.

BBC move has switched on Manchester’s flight to quality

12.03.10

By Tony Bray

As well as being home to the BBC and the University of Salford, Media City is the largest speculative office development under construction outside London and it has already attracted a flurry of occupier interest

By mid-2011, the Peel scheme will provide 300,000 sq ft of office space across three buildings. As the BBC’s plans to increase its operations in the north-west become a reality within the next 12 months, there will certainly be an increase in occupier demand from independent media companies — not least since 40% of the Beeb’s commissioning budget is to come from Media City.

Full package deal

The massive infrastructure costs being borne by Peel and its joint ventures with Ascent and BT means it is uniquely positioned to offer prospective occupiers the full package.

Despite the fact there are no other speculative schemes being developed in Manchester city centre at present, if take-up reaches its predicted levels, there are only around two and a half years of grade A supply left. Even “oven-ready” schemes that have planning consent are unlikely to go ahead without significant prelets.

However, it seems that funds are changing their risk profiles. We have been approached by several clients looking for development finance. The main problem is how to address negative land values. While the attitude to development remains cautious, Manchester’s strong position as the UK’s second city is likely to attract development funding over the next two years.

Manchester’s status as a strong economic base and an attractive location for office occupiers and investors is secure. In percentage terms, city centre office take-up during 2009, against the five-year average, was better than any other regional UK city.

Ask:Goodman’s Central Park is the closest urban business park to Manchester and, in 12 months’ time, it will have completed a 368,000 sq ft headquarters for Greater Manchester Police Authority. Central Park should thrive as significant occupier demand is anticipated for the further 750,000 sq ft planned.

In this market, occupiers will gravitate towards quality. Specification and prime location will become paramount for future developments. Although it is doubtful that anything will happen in the next couple of years, those first out of the blocks that provide these will be successful.

I'll let you know when I'm there next time. I pass it fairly regularly travelling from work to play footy at the Trafford Dome. There's a cracking shot of the Quays including Media City. If you can imagine passing Trafford police station, travelling to the Quays, as you get to Chester Road. It encompasses all of the largest buildings on the Quays right from Exchange Quays and all the residential towers down to M.C. I keep meaning to stop and grab a shot, but it's a busy junction and the ligt hasn't been great when I've been there.

It looks fantastic. The Quays has always had it's own feel, which is spacious with both sporadic development and of course the basins and waterways. Mdeia City seems to add a density and a sense of place from which the Quays will surely expand outwards.

Of course this is stage one and as such the density only goes so far, but I imagine when stage one is complete and you can walk across the square and amongst the buildings that it will look better than ever. The addition of cafes, bars and appropriate retail use will hopefully enhance offering as a day-time and in time evening & night-time destination.

K7Media shows CBS and NRK around MediaCityUK

Friday, 12 March 2010

TV and media consultancy K7Media is looking to market the potential of the North West as a programme making hub by introducing international broadcasting firms to MediaCityUK.

Attracting overseas interest The Bramhall-based business works to help clients find TV content from the UK and is keen to push the benefits of looking to the burgeoning regional scene.

Last week the firm led a fact-finding mission to MediaCityUK for Nancy Tellem, senior advisor to the CEO and former president of network television at CBS Paramount (and the woman responsible for developing the CSI franchise at CBS), garnering what the team told How-Do was an "exceptionally positive" response.

Next month K7 will be welcoming Norwegian state broadcaster NRK to the Salford Quays development and surrounding area, with visits from the Dutch public broadcaster and commercial Finnish broadcaster, Nelonen, to follow.

The firm's MD Keri Lewis Brown commented: "Commissioning heads from around the world will be visiting Manchester in the coming months and we would like to show them that they don't need to look to London for great programming. The Salford development is, without question, attracting world interest to our region."
