Congrats to Miami. I would've thought Miami would've had a higher ranked city population then 43 in the U.S. though.

Being by far the smallest (geographically) of american major cities will do that.

There are about 16,000 condos/apts under construction or completed after July 2006 in Miami so lets say after taking a few years to fill up they eventually add about 20,000 people in population, that would bring Miami's total up to around 425k. How long do you think it will take to pass the 500k barrier? 20 Years maybe?

Florida future , my friend and Tampa Bay Master,
Could you imagine for a minute if ...
Miami took over at least 75 % of Miami-Dade county Like
Jacksonville took over 75 % of Duval county back about 20 something years ago,
Anyone remember when this happen in Jacksonville ???,
when miami's population was the highest in Florida before this change ???

if miami took 75% of Miami-Dade county, the population would be over 2,000,000 easily

dave the difference averaged out from the estimated population now back to 2000 is 42,000 or about 7,000 a year so far giving us an estimate of 434,000 by 2010. If the same rate of growth continues we could hit 500,000 by 2020.
Of course many things can happen between now and then.

that, plus it isn't as dense as Boston or San Francisco, who are probably the next two smallest cities in land area with far greater populations.
